Not sending all your scores to UC's

Hey all, so I know UC's want to see all your scores from every test you've taken but what exactly is the reasoning behind that? I know I sound paranoid but I feel like there can be no innocent motive for asking for all your scores. I have 2 740's in SAT2 subject tests and the rest of the subjects I tried are in the low 600s and 590 etc etc. Can I just not send them those and they will never know? Is that recommend? Not recommended? Can they find out if I do not send them my bad scores and see them anyway? Also I have a very high ACT score and a pitiful 1900 in the SAT because I never focused on the SAT, why do they want to see every score? Can I just forget about sending them my SAT and just submit the 30+ ACT score and pretend like I never took the SAT? Would I get in trouble/scorned for not sending them everything?

Thanks for your help and sorry for sounding newbie on this, I just can't understand why they would MAKE/WANT you to send them everything if they solely have honest intentions of only taking your highest score. An explanation on this would be VERY appreciated.

They do not allow you to use “score choice”, and I assume that there is some way for them to know if you omit certain scores. I would send it all to be safe.

In a job interview, do you tell the interviewer about the time you got fired from your job for accidentally wiping the system’s server logs?

The answer is generally no.

The UC Application is basically a giant job interview. You generally want to put the stuff you’re bragging about and omit the stuff you’re not proud of. In addition, what they don’t know can’t hurt them.

The only consequence of leaving bad stuff out is a greater chance of admittance. If you’re ok with those consequences, then go for it.

K there’s two answers with completely the opposite advice on each. Does a third person want to chime in? I’m leaning more towards just not sending anything I don’t want. I think that’s what I’ll do.

Also, should I still record the only AP test I got a 2 in? I got 5’s on every other AP but a random 2 on spanish 4. I was told to record it anyway because if you don’t record it they assume you didn’t take it which is worse than a 2. Myth or fact?

Totally agree with TheRageKage12. Don’t put stuff that makes you look bad.

You have the option of sending either ACT OR SAT scores or even both. If someone has another opinion, I’d like to see where on the application where it says you have to send in all your scores. (Especially considering how it costs you to send them sometimes. Thinking back, I don’t even recall if I sent UCLA my ACT scores…)

About the AP scores, I honestly don’t even know if they matter. Whatever grade you get in the class does though. Up to you on this one, I guess.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I will definitely not be sending my rubbish scores in that case. I will probably take the spanish score off my app because it just looks terrible (5,5,5,5,2). It just doesn’t sit well haha
