Not sending final transcript from previous college?

When I got accepted to 4 years college I told admissions that I did not take any classes during spring semester because I didn’t want to have unnecessary credits that don’t count towards my degree. I didn’t know what I wanted to study when I just transferred so I just took bunch of random classes at CC. After first semester here, I decided that I want to study industrial design at GaTech. They don’t require many courses except calculus 1 and physics 1. I took cal 1 in CC but I got B in it. There are other two classes I took during the last spring but they are useless credits. Do you think it would be better if I retake cal 1 at my current school to boost my math /science GPA and get a better grade in required course? Or should I just transfer my cal 1 over from CC? Only my advisor knows that I didn’t send the transcript, because I accidentally told him that I needed it for physics 1. However, I doubt if school will punish me for not sending it because when I email admission office, they just easily believed me and let me get away with it. It’s been 6 MONTHS that they still haven’t figured out because I didn’t send my transcript. I will apply to GaTech next year prior to meeting my advisor again. Will I get in trouble if I don’t send my final transcript from previous college until next year? Thanks

Yes you will get in trouble. Regardless of what you told the admissions office they will find out and your admission can be cancelled.

how are they gonna figure it out when they haven’t sent me any warning for the whole semester?

College transfer or new freshman?
" I told admissions that I did not take any classes during spring semester because I didn’t want to have unnecessary credits that don’t count towards my degree." Yow. Hope that’s transfer.

What’s really up? Yes, you need to provide all the info they ask for.

How? Have a look at https://studentclearinghouse.org/colleges/studenttracker/

Look, assessing risk is NOT about, “IF there are no problems.” It’s about what if there IS trouble.

When you apply, you electronically sign that you are being truthful on all of your information.
There’s usually a “warning” with it that states that if your information is inaccurate, or any omission of information, you risk not being admitted or further down the line, risk losing a diploma.

Don’t worry, it WILL catch up to you.
DON’T LIE, it is not worth it!

@lookingforward I’m college transfer and I already got admitted in fall 2018. They asked for my spring transcript after I got accepted to see my financial eligibility. I didn’t think it was necessary to send it because non of classes in spring were transferable and doesn’t help bringing up my gpa. I heard it’s harder to bring up gpa when you have more credit hours.

and I heard too many credit hours might result in ineligibility for financial aid so I was worried about that too. But I didn’t think it’d get me in serious trouble if I don’t send it D: school doesn’t seem to know about it yet. I’m willing to send it I just didn’t know school would actually find out, if I dont keep it under radar.

There’s often a difference in this when you’re enrolled in a degree granting program vs on the side. You still report it all. The decision is not about future college credit.

Were you enrolled toward a degree in spring or just paid for some classes at some cc?

If you are committing fraud re FA it is bigger than just the issue with the credits and uni, who will just expel you, maybe wipe any credits earned, with FA fraud you can go to jail, face massive fines, and 1/3 of fafsas are audited. Does lying about previous credits amount to FA fraud, if it is to commit FA fraud? You might want to check that.

Oh, and from personal experience: one of my classmates rented a small apartment and needed a roommate. She eventually found “Peggy” who had been admitted from a local Community College.

Towards the end of the semester, my classmate put up another notice saying that she needed a roommate. I asked her what happened to Peggy. She said that Peggy had been expelled because she had attended another Cc in the LA area and didn’t mention it on her app.

@lookingforward What do you mean being paid for some classes? I was undergrad at cc enrolling towards my first degree.

what’s FA fraud? @Sybylla

""They asked for my spring transcript after I got accepted to see my financial eligibility. I didn’t think it was necessary to send it “”

That.

Regarding OPs plans to transfer to GA Tech – I’ve seen people get away with not reporting past classes although I don’t advise. IF you never used financial aid previously (filed a FAFSA) then you can put in a FERPA block with your old school for your old records, this then gets fed to the clearinghouse who mask this FERPA block at that particular University. Unless your new school knows to ask that specific school about past attendance you’re in the clear with regards to past attendance not being verifiable, and in turn not needing to report grades.

From what I’m following about OP, you’ll get caught as you attended classes at the same school the prior Fall and simply don’t want to report Spring grades?

Ferpa does not prevent an education entity from transferring educ relevant info to another such. That can include financial aid related info.

Failing to send all of your transcripts is a lie by omission. This gives the school the right to dismiss you at any time. Even if all the classes don’t transfer, it is best to be honest and send all of the transcripts.

@thestandard So If I didn’t fill out FAFSA for spring semester, I can write a disclosure my records at that particular school? I mean I think I filled out FAFSA in fall semester 2017 before the spring2018, so I don’t know if that still effect my spring semester? From my OP, I started as community college and then transferred to my current school this semester (fall2018). I already explain why I didnt wish to send my spring grades; none of classes were needed for my degree,(counted as elective in my new school) and I dont wanna have too many credits that won’t help improve my GPA before applying for tech.

@lookingforward oh crap it doesn’t? it says Ferpa gives you right to control disclosure education record?
