Not showing interest = rejected?

Ok so. . . I was a camp counselro all summer and thus couldn't do dozens of college visits. Over the school year, it was hard and expensive even to do a few. I went to pretty much every in-school representative for schools I'm interested in, but there a few that did not come and one that I missed.

I've thought of e-mailing these schools, but the idea really annoys me because I really DON'T have any questions for them. "Schmoozing" is necessary these days (and it is true that I've come up with questions just to look incredibly informed), but while choosing those last couple of schools, I think it would seem rather strange to e-mail them out of the blue.

If I can come up with good "Why?" essays despite these shortcomings, is a lack of "demonstrated interest" the kiss of death?

These are "match" schools, not reaches

I wouldn't worry about it, especially if the schools are reasonably far away from where you live. However, it a representative from one of the schools you applied to visits your school, you should try to meet with that person if you can to let them know you applied and are interested in their school.
