Not Sure if this is a problem ;p

I’m attending Cal next year and I put on my application that I was taking Comp Sci A from an accredited online school in the ADDITIONAL NOTES section of the application, not the section where you list the school you attended. I did not originally plan on actually finishing the course, and now I am wondering if they will be mad if I don’t send them a transcript with the Comp Sci course on it. I am sending them a transcript from my normal HS which obviously won’t have the Comp Sci class on it. Should I email someone about this or just not worry?

Thanks

My guess is that this is probably a non-issue. My kid listed a bunch of Udemy and Coursera courses in the Additional section that some were finished and some are still in progress 2 years later lol. However just to make sure, you should ask your Admissions Officer. By now, you should have been assigned one.

So I emailed my admissions counselor recently, and she ignored the email and said to go and submit an undergrad update form. From that form, these choices are available.

I will not be taking the AP exam as reported on my application
I have earned/will earn a grade of D or lower in a senior year course
I have not met/will not meet the 3.0 minimum GPA one or more terms during my senior year
I have added/dropped a course(s) to my senior year schedule
I am having difficulty submitting a final transcript/document

I thought that I did not meet any of these, as the class I am describing is not one that was formally enrolled in through my current High School. There also isn’t an “other” option, so I’m not sure what to do. Do I just email her again? I really hope my admission isn’t rescinded.

Also just as a note, I already submitted a undergrad update form saying that I didn’t take 3 of the 4 AP tests I said I was gonna do. I don’t think that this should be any problem and the worst is that I’m going to have to deal with the annoying tasks in cal central for the whole summer, but im still paranoid.

Oh just as I made the above message she coincidentally sent me another email stating: If you want credit for the course, we will need a transcript. Select the added/dropped course for your update form.

So I’m assuming it’s a non-issue then? Since I don’t want the credit ;p

I would just leave it alone. My educated guess is that if it’s not an a-g course on any transcript, they won’t care much about it. You also have an email thread that seems non-applicable, just keep it handy.

Agree that it doesn’t matter unless it counts for community college credit or lets you test out of something.
They don’t like electronically sent transcripts. Don’t do it. It gets lost and then you have to get a physical transcript and it takes a while for credits to update, although it’s still questionable whether any credits from before Berkeley have any benefit other than the potential to graduate early. I think one time I met someone who graduated in two years.

@ProfessorPlum168 I’m getting worried again because the course seems to be a-g qualified (https://hs-articulation.ucop.edu/agcourselist/referencelist/results;searchType=2;query=codehs) as it is listed on the UC a-g course list when searched. I sent a few more emails and haven’t gotten a reply yet (Everything said so far is very vague and I asked for confirmation and a conclusive answer). I hope that the fact I never put it on my actual list of high school courses and just in the additional comments as an online course is good enough to waive the issue.

Thanks for the responses.

You’re creating problems where none exist.

Do you meet all a-g subject requirements by other classes? If yes then don’t worry.

What I meant to say was “if it’s not an a-g course **or not **on any transcript, they won’t care much about it.” Sorry about that. Bad code lol. I don’t think you need to worry about it. You have more important things to worry about, such as preparing for CS61A hehe.

Yeah my bad, instead of trying to get a confirmation through email cuz it takes forever I just called and they said that as long as I never made an agreement with my actual high school to put the course on my transcript, then it doesn’t matter, like you said @ProfessorPlum168
Sorry to drag this on for longer than it needed lol, just paranoid ;p

No worries…just get ready for school in August…you’ll be plenty stressed enough with CS61A and EE16A.
