Not sure if UNC is right for options in technology.

Hello,
I’m a future college undergrad.I recognize the difference between computer science and the forms of engineering, and I’m just not sure exactly what I want to do, so specifying in a specific area of engineering is daunting (e.g., electrical engineering or bio medical engineering). I feel like comp sci is general enough where I can enjoy it, branch out, and get a satisfying job from its major. I’ve noticed that UNC only has comp sci and one specific engineering major in regards to technology. I know for sure I want to work with technology (and music on the side/minor). Would this be a good place for me to go, considering I want to have options due to my indecisiveness?

If you want to pursue engineering and want options other than biomedical than UNC probably is not the right school. Assuming you are in state, have you look at NC State? Seems a better fit. However, I have no idea about the music options at NCS.

You should check out UNC’s School of Information and Library Science, specifically the information science major.

The major integrates technology (web development, databases, text mining, etc.) with other interdisciplinary fields which I find really cool.

The graduate school is ranked #2 in the country and you can take masters-level classes for your major in your junior and senior years. They also offer an accelerated bachelors-masters program (I think on the website it says they are only one of four schools that do so). http://sils.unc.edu/
