I'm a freshman. I moved to a whole new city for college and I live on campus.
On the first day, my college had a small BBQ for the residential hall. I went to the BBQ and it seem liked everyone has found a group already. There were no loners or anyone eating solo.
Plus my roommate stays with her boyfriend off campus...So I have no roommate buddy as I were hoping.

I don't know how to approach a group. I'm not sure what to say. I'm secretly shy, but if someone strikes up a conversation with me I'll feel at ease and would talk for at least 30mins with no shyness showing.

I need some advice :/ I want to have a lot of friends.

No worries. I felt the same way when I started at my new college. Try to see if you can tag along with anyone that even says “hi” to you. Thats what i did during orientation. I ended up going to a pool party on campus and thats where i met my friend that i hangout with daily. If i would have never went to that party with that random group of girls then i would have never met my friend. Im shy as well. Its my second semester and I’m trying harder to make friends since i didn’t make a lot first semester. So don’t feel too bad. Talk to the people who sit next to you in class. Even if you’re just asking them what the assignment or even what the date is. Let me know if you need anymore tips :)
