Not sure what I want to do in College

Hey, I know I shouldnt be worrying about what I want to major in right now since it's early, but I wanted to know whether I can take some options. At the moment, I'm really interested in the atmospheric sciences; I recently conducted successful research on global climate change. However, I'm also into the biological sciences and I may find interest in perhaps the neurosciences or biomedical sciences. So in Columbia, would a field such as neurosciences require a pre-made decision like for example, having decided to go into pre-med during high school? I guess what I am asking is, will there be ample time as well as ample experiences in the Core Curriculum throughout the undergraduate college career for me to "change" majors? I really like atmospheric sciences, but at the same time, i'm sorta pushed to go for careers that have higher salaries. Thanks a lot for any help!

bump... thanks.

sounds like your leaning toward environmental science or biology or neuroscience which is fine, you dont have to make a decision until the end of soph year and by that time you will have the chance to take classes in each and explore them all.

thanks for ur reply. so if i wanted to go into biology or neurosciences, perhaps a career as a neurosurgeon, i didnt need to have applied for pre-med in advance? i dont know why im worrying about this right now!

actually i researched some medical schools and it says that i just need to complete pre-med courses, not neccesarily be IN a pre-med program. so columbia's core curriculum provides all of these required courses. alright so it isn't too late to go into medicine if i want to. alright i now know what i must do.....

so columbia's core curriculum provides all of these required courses.

this isnt true....the core will only fulfill your english requirement....the required courses are all science and math! but as a science major your major requirements should fulfill most of the premed requirements.

But yea, bottom line is dont worry too much about it now you can become premed whenever.
