I'm a freshman in college (I should be a sophomore /grumble, but as it stands I am a freshman) and at some point I will want to pursue a Master's.

A friend of mine told me applying to a Master's program was worthwhile since I'm building an upward trend and need all the help I can get, ESPECIALLY with research. I'm not sure what kind of schooling my career will require - either Ph.D. or M.D. or maybe even just a Master's, but I feel like Master's is a good start if I'm not sure.

I want to do something in genetics, possibly eventually developmental conditions like X/Y chromosome disorders or Autism. I'm not sure if I would rather go clinical or research.

Should I be looking for a Master's program in something broad like biology, or more specific like genetics, or even more specific than that? I'm not entirely sure how these work.
