I attended a university straight from high school and went there for three years.
Now I'm seeking to transfer for Fall of 2006. I will be applying to schools this winter

Here's where the problem lies, I changed my major during my junior year and my grades from freshman/sophomore years were not very strong.

For the major that I wish to pursue, I have only taken the pre-requirements but based on my transcript as a whole, I feel that I will not be able to transfer into another school. I'm planning to take some core and some upper division courses as I feel this is the only way to show I'm capable. How will schools look at this? I know they want their transfer students to take the core classes at their institution, Will I be able to transfer?

Not sure what I should do

thanks

This is really a tough situation. Your best shot is to just finish at your current school the go to the school you really wanted to go to for grad school. Many schools (Actually the UC's) do want you to complete your core units after you transfeer thats why they have what they call a residency requirement (no not the other kind of residency for tution purposes) where you have to be at their school a minimum of two years before you can actually graduate but if you transfer with less than a two year's of work left then chances are they wont admit you but you are right it does make you look like a stronger candidate aswell so its a case of damed if you do and damed if you dont'

Well, I have about three years still left since I plan to double major.. but the schools won't know about it since I plan to apply into the program I have taken all the preparation for.

I really don't know if I want to go back to my current institution, it's tough to explain why. I really want to transfer for personal reasons
