Hey guys, not really sure where I should expect myself to go. I live in northern MI and U of M I'm pretty much in maybe but if I could get somewhere (Stanford, Columbia, Duke, Johns Hops, Princeton I woud love). but I'm hoping you guys know more than me so I would appreciate any help on where I should still have good chance

I have a lot of volunteer also, not sure how much but its in the hundreds. I also attended an educational summer program at U of M.

GPA is not weighted for advantages to honors courses at my high school and I go to a good private school and that might help so just keep that in my mind maybe...

What are your test scores?

sorry for posting the thread twice! did not mean to

and my test scores I forgot to mention...
I'm a junior so no SAT/ACT yet. I got 211 on PSAT and no AP's yet.
Probably a little over 31 on ACT and over 2100 on SAT, maybe in 2200's because I did my worst on my best area in the PSAT

You should definately get into Michigan. I think you have a really good shot at JHU and an OK shot at Duke. Stanford, Columbia, and Princeton are reaches (for everyone), but I think it's definately worth applying.

I just want to bump my post since I only got one reply. I would appreciate anyone elses opinions.

Thanks

bumppppppp...61 views and 1 response lol
Just a little help please :)

I did forget to mention since this is actually my main purpose for posting. Since many of you seem knowledgeable what do you guys recommend I should do to improve? Like something glaring.

Thanks a lot.

The thing you could do that would help you the most would be to improve your GPA. While it's fine for Mich, it could hurt you at the other schools.

bumpppppppp...anyone else please?

It's a little early to tell without junior year grades. But in any case, I think you need a little extra EC edge (maybe a job or college courses this coming summer?). Like the other person said, if your GPA improves, that's always good, and strong essays will help as well.

thanks. what are more "noticeable" or appreciated by college admissioners. A selective summer program or an actual college course over the summer?

It really depends on what course, what college, how selective, how well known, how long, what else you are doing, etc.
