I'm a junior this year, and the more I look at colleges, the more I get confused as to where I should be looking. Can anyone reccomend where they got in with similar stats or where they think I have a good chance?

My school's only a few years old, so Clubs, etc pretty much suck.

Right now my school choices:

Reach: Northwestern, Notre Dame
Match: U of Illinois, Marquette, George Washington
Saftey: Illinois Wesleyan, Marymount (mom's a legacy)

Thanks for taking a look!

Your reaches, matches, and safeties look pretty spot on :]

Obnoxiously bumping.

I want to go for direct medical program college - what stats do I need to qualify
Looking at
Reach - Brown, North Western
Match - TCNJ, Villenova
Saftey - Rutgers, NJIT

Sign up to take the SAT, too. Some kids do better on that.

Is money no object?

Which Marymount is your mom a legacy? Loyola Marymount?

Antonio… :)

Start a thread with your stats and your needs. :)

You’ll get better answers! BTW…is money a concern?

It’s just Marymount University (I think) in Arlington, VA. No offense to mom, but not a top school.

I will apply for financial aid, I’m not sure exactly how much I can afford yet.

Just to be specific - I am looking for combined BA/MD 7 year program…also known as accelerated and/or combined medical program for high school students

Current GPA - 95.25 out of 100
My SAT stat
M-800 CR-730, W-800
SAT - Biology/M - 800, AP Bio-5,
Taking SAT Chem and AP Chem in May
SAT-Math 2 in June and AP Calculus BC in senior year

Start your own thread, antonio.

sorry will start my own thread
thanks for the advise - mom2collegekids

^Yeah, seriously.

Your schools really do look spot on, though getting your ACT (or SAT, if you choose to take that) up can’t hurt, especially to make your reaches less reachy

Okay, after some more discussion with mom:

Where do you think I fall for Georgetown and Dartmouth? Personally I’m doubtful, but I’m planning visits and those are some of mom’s top picks for me.

I’m planning to get an ACT of 34. I think it’s doable, because I test well in general. All my individual scores were over 30 except math, mostly because I don’t remember anything about geometry (I took it in 8th grade). And I’m taking the SAT on March 13th or 14th, can’t remember the date at this time. How important is the writing SAT in admissions in general? I heard colleges in general aren’t very fond of it, which would be awesome because that was my lowest section on the PSAT.

Sorry for rambling, but thank you all for taking a look!

My SAT tutor told me that writing isn’t that important. It just shouldn’t look weird. So if you score highly on math & cr then you should have upper 6s or higher on writing… you just can’t have it look weird on your app

What did you get on the PSAT?

Are you in-state for UIUC?

I don’t know how much your C in APCal is going to hurt you for schools like Dartmouth.

I think Georgetown is possible, but it depends on some real scores.

What about Santa Clara in California?

Look over the following and see what kind of school you’ll like…

big
small
quiet
rah rah big sports
honors college on campus?
greek systems as an option
single sex
co-ed 50/50 split
rural setting
big city setting
collegetown setting
nice dorms
recreation availability
warm weather
cold/snowy weather

PSAT: 198
I should have prepped, I know I could have made National Merit.

Yes, I’m in state, from the suburban Chicago area.

big <– leaning towards bigger.
small <– probably not.
quiet <– ehh.
rah rah big sports <– not the most important factor, but a reasonable interst would be nice.
honors college on campus? <– as long as I can be challenged, I’m good.
greek systems as an option <– nice, but not the most important.
single sex <– NO.
co-ed 50/50 split <– yes.
rural setting <– if it has a “college friendly” atmosphere, if that makes any sense.
big city setting <– Chicago or DC.
collegetown setting <– top choice. I want “the college experience” :]
nice dorms <– is there such a thing?
recreation availability <– not the most important.
warm weather <– love warm weather, but I’m from Chicago. 40 degrees is warm to me.
cold/snowy weather
