not sure where to do a masters computer science

Hi I want to do a masters of computer science.

Right now I am looking at Western Washington university, Oregon state university, and aalto university.

It looks like there are difference between the courses required in the programs.

I have a bachelors in electrical engineering and it looks like I am eligible to apply to masters of computer science programs.

Is anyone familiar with some different programs and what to look for in a program?

does anyone have any suggestions?

I’d go with Oregon State, best name and probably therefore best recruiting.

I’m not familiar with any of those programs but look at the total costs and typical years to degree. Also try to see what percentage of people finish the programs. Are the masters programs thesis or non-thesis? Are the programs more research or application based? Which do you want?

In California at least, Oregon State has good name recognition and many graduates live here. Besides campus recruiting, the size and activity of an alumni network is something to consider.

Have you been accepted to all of the above? Are they all affordable?

I agree with @RelicAndType that Oregon State is probably better known. However, I am in the opposite corner of the US from you and therefore which schools are well known in the Pacific Northwest is something I would not know.

I haven’t applied anywhere yet. I have the time to try to get in state tuition and i’m sure how to go about that process yet. I was also looking at san diego state university now and ut austin and also u of arizona in tucson. Would san diego state provide a useful alumni network? It would be fun to be on the beach for a little. Western washington has the highest acceptance rate but not a lot of classes to choose from. It looks like san jose state is also affordable but i hear the cost of living in san francisco is high.

i also looked at hawaii but it costs just a bit more. I was thinking about trying out surfing.

Is california state university chico a decent school it’s easier to get into and inexpensive

wow university of nevada reno has the lowest tuition I have come across I think I will also apply there

Hey Zakchill - looks like you’re feeling the west coast. At the risk of an off the cuff plug, Northeastern’s masters is stellar. Great department, professional focus, massive ROI.

Hate to steer the conversation but it’s an interesting datapoint to have in the set!
