Not sure which recommendation to use?

I had two teachers write me recommendations since that's a requirement of a few schools I'm applying to , but another school's admission counselor asked for only one.
My options are:
1) a teacher I'm pretty close with, whom I had Sophomore year for AP Gov second semester. I'm also Link Leader and he oversees the program.
2) a teacher I had for both sophomore and junior years (Honors & AP Chemistry), I found his class very enjoyable and excelled, thus I am planning to pursue chemistry in college. We were kind of close, I'm just worried that a few of my goof ups in the classes may influence his letter.

I've heard both are excellent recommenders, but I'm trying to figure out which would be more beneficial to getting into college.

Can you ask your GC to read both and give an opinion? They seem equally good at this point.

I woukd say your best bet would be to use recommendation #2, but be precise in telling the teacher you love chemistry and want to major in it. Hopefully his ego, as a fabulous chemistry teacher, will understand your desires and wish you the best. By wishing you the best, he’ll write the shiniest letter he can. Also, try to make sure he writes about your success in his class, so the colleges can see your ability to do well.
