not sure?

So I went on to myucf today and this is what it said:

Your application has undergone an initial review and is currently deferred for further evaluation with the Admissions Committee. A decision may be delayed as we assess the strength of this year's applicant pool.

If you would like to submit additional information or test scores to improve your competitiveness and allow us to make a more immediate decision, please send additional credentials to the UCF Office of Undergraduate Admissions, P O Box 160111, Orlando, FL 32816-0111.

This is your current status. Your status is subject to change at any time depending upon receipt of new information and further review by the Admissions Committee, and may be confirmed in writing via a letter from the Director of Undergraduate Admissions.

Now I know this means that I've been deferred, but what I want to know is what is it that they want me to do? Other people's deferments states something the committee specifically wants from you, but this one seems kind of vague.

It sounds like they would like more test scores or other credentials such as current grades or recommendations.

Did you send any letters of recommendations initially? Did you do the optional essays? Can you have guidance send in your 1st quarter grades? Try to take the Dec 6th SAT's. My daughter's transcripts were mailed 3 weeks ago and UCF finally got them yesterday. So now we wait for a decision. Good luck.

I had heard that due to the economy, more Florida students are staying instate next year than ever before. UCF is waiting to see a more realistic picture of this year's applicant pool before commiting admissions to the lower stats applicants. Most kids that I know who have applied with a 3.8 and up GPA and an SAT of 1180 (M/CR) and up have been admitted within weeks of their application's being complete. The kids who I know whose stats are lower (and I know of 4) are all deferred. These kids are now sending recommendations and have retaken the SAT (NOV) to make themselves more competitive. No one here can believe how the admissions criteria has changed so much in just two years (when a 1080 and 3.6 GPA was a match for UCF) !!
