not takin AP but in class - will it hurt?

I'm in the AP Spanish class, but really don't want to take the AP Spanish Language Exam. Will it hurt me to do so? I'm one of a few non-native speakers in the class, working incredibly hard to barely scrape an A in the class, and the success rate for the AP Exam at our school is very low, even among native speakers. I honestly don't know how well I'll do on the exam. I have a good shot at doing well on the others (all but one of my classes are AP and the one that's not is a school-required Pre-AP) and I don't want AP Spanish to mess it all up. (I've taken one AP so far - Comp Sci - and got a 5.)

EDIT - meant "taking", sorry :)

why not? Usually AP tests are pretty easy to pass, but getting a 5 is still hard on some (even though a 5 is about 60% correct on many tests). Unless your state doesn't subsidize fees, I would just take it. If it doesn't turn out the way you want, you don't have to report it.

Thanks for the quick response! My state (TX) does subsidize part of the fee, so money isn't the issue :) So you don't have to report your scores? I thought all of the scores had to be sent when you forward them to colleges.
