I'm currently signed up for 4 AP tests, but I have decided to not take one.

Today I went to go get a refund from our AP coordinator, and she asked what grade I was and I told her I was a Senior, and she asked what school I was most likely to attend and I said UCI.

Then she told me that I might want to be careful about NOT taking an AP test because last year, she said she had a girl who got accepted to UCLA, and when time came she decided not to take one of the AP tests. Later in the mail she got a letter saying that we admitted you to UCLA on the condition that you would take the AP exam...

So now I want to know if the UCs (specifically UCI), will revoke my admissions just because I didn't take an AP exam...? I don't recall a section on the application that said "I will be taking this exam in May 2010"

Thanks!

To me it sounds like your coordinator is bull*****ting you so your school can get more funding or better school statistics. I’d think having 3 other AP tests will trump the fact that you are not taking 1 of them.

UCLA uses a holistic approach in their admissions decision and the exam costs <100 bucks and 2 hours of time? Seriously? If that truly did happen, I’m astonished, that’s like tippy toes on the edge of a cliff admissions status. Admissions are more commonly rescinded because of senior year grades.

ive never heard of a college really giving a rats *** about AP test.

i’d agree with the high school just trying to get kids to sign up for ap exams to boost funding or whatever. i decided not to take ap lit my senior year (cause it wouldnt have counted for uci; already had credit) and my english teacher gave me loads of flak about it. probably why i didnt get an A… meh.
im not sure exactly how it goes, but i know the number of kids taking ap exams (not how well they do) adds to the score of how “good” a score is.

I totally thought the same thing. I was like this is total BS.

Thanks for your input!
