I planned to take AP Stats this year; however, due to a schedule conflict, I have to choose between AP English and AP Stats. I should also add that I intend to attend VCU and I plan to major in nursing.

I'm taking two science classes this year-- AP Bio and Anatomy. I took two sciences last year, and I also fulfilled the math requirement for VCU last year when I took Precalc as my 4th year of math. Additionally, I took AP English my Junior year and did pretty well in it, so I don't like the thought of going back to Honors.

AP Calc will only cause more scheduling problems, and I'll only need an Intro Stat in college. I'm not worried about having to take Intro Stat in college, either, it's only Stats and it's only an Intro class. There are no other maths for me to take, and I don't have the time to take math at a community college. I'm basically taking a second science class instead of a math class, but is that okay?

I know that Pre-Calc technically counts as a “fourth year” of math for most kids, as math sequences begin at Algebra I and most kids have satisfied that requirement in Middle School or whatever, but I think you should really try to take either Stats or Calc. Most colleges expect to see one of the two in your senior schedule if you have the chance to take it. With that being said, if it’s impossible for you to put it into your schedule, then I don’t think it’ll be that much of a penalty.

…I hate math. I wanted to drop it my senior year but my GC basically put me in a headlock… and then she put me in AP Calc…

An AP math will look much more impressive to a college oppose to AP english if you want to be a nurse. Its not completely necessary but reccomended
