Not taking Pre Cal = Automatic reject/ rescind?

I'm currently in my senior year taking precalculus. I was wondering whether not taking pre calc would mean an automatic rejection or rescind when applying to UCs. I've submitted my apps and indicated I'm taking pre calc but as the first semester is coming to end in a few weeks my grade stands at a low C. The class is really breaking me apart during my senior year as I really just don't understand the material compared to the rest of my classmates. Math has always been my weakest subject in school. If I were to drop out 2nd semester would that mean I would be rejected/rescind to UCs? I'm really debating on dropping it or not but because I heard you need pre calc to be accepted to UCs I'm holding back on dropping the class. I'm taking 6 classes this year 3 APs, and doubling in math (AP Stats/Pre Calc). I'm doing fine in all my other classes its just pre calc that has me going nuts. If I were to drop it I'd go to a Adv Topics which is a pre calc like material but not as advanced, or if that doesnt work I'll take an elective class because I don't want a free period. Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Not taking Pre Cal won’t mean rejection/ being rescind as long as you meet the a-g requirements but will give you a disadvantage which may mean you can get rejected. Keep in mind UCs will accept credit for Pre-Cal and AP Stats but not Trigonometry or the Adv Topics class you mentioned.

As for your class I suggest you to go to [Khan Academy](http://khanacademy.org/) to watch videos and learn about Pre-Cal easily.

Thank you for the response! I’ve completed all A-G requirements. I checked on UC A-G doorway for my highschool and it had Adv Topics as an approved mathematics course. For me, pre cal is just insanely complex. Beginning of the class I was able to do well but now that were into the more detailed equations and such, I’m just not able to keep up.

You don’t need pre cal for a-g I think it would a 4th yr which is recommended but not required

An offer of admission may include a provision that you complete all reported senior year courses with specified minimum grades (e.g. a 3.0 or higher GPA and no grade lower than a C was a commonly reported condition at UCs).

It is a good idea to get as good an understanding of precalculus as you can, in case you need to take calculus in college. If you don’t complete it in high school, you may have to take it as a remedial course in college (and the course may be run at double the speed you see in high school).
