Not taking study hall junior year!

So in my high school during my junior year, I have taken 4 APs 1 MCP 1 honors classes and a marketing class. My friends took a study hall instead of an elective class, in my case marketing. Beginning of the year, my guidance counselor said it is good to take an elective class instead of a study hall so i decided to take marketing. Now as the school year is ending, this marketing class is going to hurt my gpa. I have an A+ in the class but because it's a regular class, my cumulative weighted gpa is a little lower, a 4.31 instead of a 4.33. I am really angry because instead of taking a study hall which gives you extra time, i took a pretty annoying class and worked hard to get A+. But still with the A+, my gpa is hurt by it whereas my friends' gpa is basically boosted. However i get 5 more credits in high school, (125 credits opposed to my friends' credits: 120)

do you think the lower gpa but higher credit will be better to colleges and universities because it shows that I didnt take the easy way out during junior year and take a study hall but instead took a class or will not taking a study hall during junior year and receiving 5 more credits mean nothing and i will basically have a lower gpa even though i worked harder than others?

Will there be a way to just drop marketing class altogether?

I’m taking a study hall my Junior Year, but our school distinguishes it as an “AP Study” and we are actually awarded credit for essentially, a free period. It’s the best of both worlds. However, I believe that in your case, colleges would prefer you to take a regular marketing class, do very well in it, and have it slightly lower your GPA rather than take the easy way out and get a study, so no worries. :)

Pointless thread is pointless. A .02 GPA difference makes absolutely no difference. You would have been fine taking a study hall, and you are fine even though you didn’t take a study hall. I don’t understand how some people think that a .02 GPA difference will make a difference in college admissions, LOL.

Haha my bad i was just kind of ****ed even though its .02, if i were to get like penalized for having extra work. O to plebian, it was the hardest schedule i could set more myself during junior year. Not too many electives in my schoo are academic and stuff

Honestly, college won’t care about a .02 difference in GPA or a slightly lower class rank.

AP Study may boost your GPA in high school, but colleges probably won’t factor in that course to your UW/W GPA.

And OP, just keep taking the marketing class.

I wish our school had a “study hall” class.
