Not the average CC schedule..

Tell me how to make it better? I sort of just now realised I've really screwed up this year (9th grade), so.. yeah.

Past:
8th grade
Algebra I H
English I H

9th Grade
Algebra II H
Marching Band
English II H
Physical Science H
Global Studies H
NJROTC

Future:

10th grade
Geometry (grade isn't good enough in Alg. II H for Geo. H - although I can get the teacher recommendation overridden and still take H.)
English III H
French I
Marching Band
Symphonic Band H
Biology I H
Creative Writing I
Driver's Ed (required for a license in SC)

What other options do you have?

Looking at your courses, it seems that you’re taking the hardest ones available (at your level).

Doubling my sciences (adding Chem I), taking Global Studies II H, adding another foreign language (French II).

Have to have 1 math/science/English, can’t double English. 8 classes on a 4x4 block schedule.

That looks like an easy courseload. Take as many APs as you can; I’m guessing that you need to go through prerequisites to do so, so take the opportunity now with your free time to study for the SAT and self-learn several AP classes. (AP Calc and AP Comp Sci are really easy to self-learn, and AP Chem is doable.)

Don’t make the same mistake I did. Use your freshman year productively, even if your classes aren’t great.

Haa. It’s not an option for anyone to take Geometry before 10th here, so…

10th grade
Geometry (try and make this H. Push for it and have your parents help)
French I
Marching Band
Symphonic Band H
Biology I H
Creative Writing I
Driver’s Ed (required for a license in SC)

 • Definetly add Global History H. You need 4 years of History. Don’t cop out in 10th grade.

If you’re on the block schedule, doubling science isn’t a bad idea. How would you take 2 levels of French at the same time?

Since it’s a sophomore schedule, it kinda depends on you school. Is this a rigorous schedule for a 10th grader in your school?

Yeah really try and get into honors geometry, it’s difficult but it is so, so helpful. Particularly in chemistry, or other logic-requiring disciplines.

You don’t need geometry for chemistry…you need algebra for chemistry. Kudos to McKyle as I wouldn’t set foot in a school without a single AP, and I’m a sophomore. I had no AP’s Frosh year, but that’s cause my school doesn’t offer any.

His point is that it trains your logical faculties…

How is that “not average”? You took four honors classes in 9th grade, all in core subjects. I’d definitely consider that a hard schedule.

Personally I never took any APs in highschool, only honors courses.
Well besides my mentorship but I don’t count that.
An easy course load for some may not be easy for others.
