This has been discussed in the past, but never at length...

So - a question to current students (and parents): What are the classes (and/or professors) you absolutely loved at WUSTL, and would recommend to anyone, even if they are not majoring in that subject?

(I've heard that Human Evolution taught by Prof Smith(?) was one of those, but it is no longer available...)

Professor Keane in Classics is really nice, and Dr. Hasting (Engineering/Math) is really amazing. Well, if you are into Math...I guess an English/Humanities person would not appreciate one of her classes, but she is an amazing professor.

Professor Miller, or "Gary" as he likes to be called, is one of our best political science professors. He teaches many upper level courses, including Micro Organization Behavior, Politics of the Civil Rights Movement, and Negotiating Major Legislation. However, his main passion is introducing freshman and sophomores to the world of politics.

He's a great guy to talk to about theory and current events. He is easy to relate to and makes the material really come alive. I respect him not only as a professor, but as a mentor. He is the reason many students switch into political science as a major. Even though more than 250 students enroll in American Politics, he will meet with any student individually and make the class seem very personal.

Regardless of your level of expertise, I recommend taking this class to at the very least round out your Wash U education.

Intro to Human Ev is still available, but is now taught by Herman Pontzer as Prof. Smith is becoming Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. I took the class while Smith was still teaching it, but I've also taken classes with Pontzer. He's a great guy. He's quite young, perhaps in his early thirties, but does really interesting work. He's into human biomechanics and is really passionate about what he does and is also insanely intelligent (and also kinda cute)!
