what kind of clothes do most kids wear at Trinity? I know it is a personal choice of course, but what seems to be the trend? What stores are popular?

When does it start getting cold? Can you wear shorts untill end of Sept?

how bout at night and mornings is it cold in Sept?

Just trying to get an idea for shopping for clothing needs.

I guess my d should bring up just things she will wear from first day-family weekend in Oct and then I will bring sweaters and warm clothes and make the switch w/ her and bring down her shorts and summery things until spring again.

Any ideas or advice about clothing/style/practical tips from students? Jtvoyager? Ginger?

ill be a frosh next year....
Lacoste and Polo if you want your daughter to conform
Whatever she wears normally if you want her to be herself. The fact that this is comming from a parent is moderately frightening.

September stays warm to hot, by October you start to feel a chill in the air. Family weekend is a good time to switch from shorts to pants as long as she has a couple pairs of pants for the cooler mornings and nights. I would also buy a Trinity sweater first thing on campus, most people buy one anyway and it will keep her warm in lieu of a jacket if the weather turns awful (as it seems to be doing quite often in Connecticut lately). As Cavs019 says, polo shirts, birkenstocks and L.L. Bean bags with her initials stamped on the front are standard fare for Trin conformers, but aside from the slight majority who dress like that most other people do thier own thing. Also, when recommending clothing it might help to know what region you are coming from, I know that people from Southern California and Florida tend to take a lot longer to adjust to the weather than someone from say, greater Baltimore/Washington.

I have no worries about my d being herself. No matter what clothes she is wearing she has a very distinct personality and is comfortable with herself.

But like alot of girls she has a range of clothing styles to fit her moods and I was wondering what kids wear at Trinity if there is a certain trend or not ( the school's reputation is preppy and I wasn't sure what that exactly meant as far as types of stores etc or even if that is true.)

When we visited it seemed kind of middle of the road to me not any particular styles in a majority. Mostly just comfortable. Although I did see more "preppy" clothing than "goth-type" clothing, in fact I don't think I saw any "goth-like clothing"

Expressing different styles with clothing isn't frighteneing it's what some people like to do. I wasn't asking so that my D would conform to an image she is not comfortable in. I asked so that she would know if a certain trend stood out or not. Whether she would want to wear that style or not is a personal choice, if she is comfortable in it and she is having a day she wants to look a certain way than what is wrong with having the clothes that fit the style?
That's the great thing about fashion....so many choices.

I think a person can be "themselves" and have a varied wardrobe too.
