NOT writing about my passion?

I am passionate about cancer advocacy and I’d like to go on to study medicine. I think it shows quite clearly in my extracurriculars (most are cancer related) and in my future career goals.

However, I’d like to dedicate my common app essay and short answer to parts of my life that aren’t related to cancer. Would this be bad? Would Brown look at me and wonder why I didn’t bother talking about it?

Oh, and I do mention cancer a little in the supplement, though.

IMO, your common app essay should showcase your personality, not anything that Brown could learn from your resume. If you’re applying to PLME, there’s plenty of room for your cancer advocacy in the PLME essays. That’s just what I would do.
Good luck!

Thank you so much! You put me at ease
I’m not applying to PLME, though :(

:) no prob. For my common app, I just tried writing about what made me happy that day, and it worked.
