Not yet contacted for alum interviews?

So I have received confirmation from all of 10 of the colleges to which I applied. They have all of my forms. However, 4 of the 10 haven't initiated any kind of interview process. I don't think they're guaranteed at any of the 4 but I live like 25 minutes from Boston, I'm not exactly in the middle of nowhere. I would imagine there are a lot of alums in my area. Especially since BC, BU and Tufts are 3 of these 4 schools.

At this point in the game (1 month or so until decisions mailed) should I be worried? Should I contact them?

Hey Ike, it is hard to say. My son applied to schools three years ago and was not contacted for an interview at one of the schools, which similar to your situation, was a prestigious school located a short distance from home and he was accepted. Do you think you have a reasonable chance of admission to these schools or do they represent a long shot?

Should you be worried? Should you contact them? no/no

Alum interviews are done by volunteers. Volunteer hours are obviously a limited resource. I interview for my HYP alma mater and frankly, we’re innundated w/the no. of applicants. I know we were not able to service all the kids in my area. However your concern may be that perhaps you’re “pre-sorted” – where the “likely” applicants get interviewed and the “no chance” kids get surpassed. I can’t speak for other schools but my school doesn’t do that whatsover. Once the application file is complete, the contact info is shot out to us in the field and we initiate contact – there’s no time to sort the shoo-ins from the fantasy candidates.

As it’s March, I’d say trying to contact the school for interviews at this point wouldn’t do any good. Don’t worry about it. The interview is the slimmest portion of your file.
