Hey all I really wish to transfer to rutgers pretty bad. My high school gpa/sats were **** so I went to a CC for a year. I got a 3.8 gpa first semister and I'm about to get a 3.2 to a 3.5 this semister, not sure.
I really can't take commuting here anymore, the bus rides are getting ridiculous and tiresome. So I applied to montclair/william paterson because at the time I only had 12 credits which would not be nearly enough to get into rutgers with my crapppy HS GPA/SAT. I got into both and I decided to go to william paterson for a semister or two.

Now, did I screw myself over? Will my bergen grades no long matter if I decide to transfer from william paterson to rutgers? i saw on the application they requested all the colleges you've been to but I'm hoping that i have to send my bergen gpa :/. I know that when i go to william paterson my Bergen gpa doesn't matter anymore. I'm so confused! any help? you think I can apply directly to rutgers right as my fall semister begins at william paterson?

oh and i will have 24 credits by the end of my second semister, I plan to take 15 creditish at william paterson in the fall.

If you are considering to transfer to Rutgers, why don’t you stay one more year then apply?
It will not only save you money, but it is easier to get better grades at community college.
I’m transferring to Rutgers for Nursing program and my high school GPA was like 4.2 and SAT was above 2000. Why don’t you also make an appointment with the adviser or something? Once you have been graduated from high school, they tend to focus more on college transcript. My friend had 3.5 GPA and 1600 on SAT, but got into Pharmacy program with 3.9 GPA.
So, be optimistic.

i’m considering that but that didn’t quite answer my question. thanks for the advice though and i am considering it.

Wait, I want to help you out. What part of the question did I not answer?
Transferring is very painful process because 99% of students tend to take one more year to graduate since the credits are not equivalent. Make sure check NJTRANSFER.org if you could find as many as equivalent courses

They will look at all colleges you attend as well as your highschool grades, but the more college coursework you complete, the less they will look at your highschool grades. I also suggest staying at a community college…it’s less complicated for you and it’ll be easier to keep your grades up. Also, getting an associates degree from a CC increases your chances of getting accepted :-)

i spoke to a counselor at rutgers, she said they just look at raw gpa/raw credits and they don’t check if you have an associate or not.
