Not your topical suspension crisis. please help

<p>Alright.. so I"m applying to college this year. and it's a bit of a long story so if u need details please ask me. </p>

<p>last year (junior year) i was suspended for 10 days on the charges of sneaking into the school at 4 am, getting on teachers computers, changing grades, forging grades. </p>

<p>then I went to the board meeting and the principal basically said that they made a mistake and there was no proof that I sneaked into the school., no evidence at all. but i was still suspended because of forgery.</p>

<p>and the forgery was this, at the end of the year in Pre-calulus, we had to turn in our notebook containing our last quarter tests and quizes and homwork. so my teacher "discovered" a test of mine where teh format of teh questions were different. (for ex. instead of a < sign, there was a small outline box. sort of like when u download a picture and u click print really fast, before the picture was downloaded, and you print out an outline of the picture instead of the picture. i know, it's a bit confusing. )</p>

<p>the thing was, there was already a grade on that test. because all of our stuff in our notebook was things she handed back to us so therefore she already graded them and teh scores were entered into the system. at the board of ED. meeting, they ask her if the scores on my test was the same as the scores in her grade book. she said yes. so if i forged that test, why would i put the same score in? </p>

<p>sry, like i said a long story. anyways it came to naught, the school board is basically looking out for their own and my 10 days suspension was upheld EVEN though out of the original 5 charges, 4 was dropped. </p>

<p>I was hoping to resolve this in court, and we've asked for the evidence, but they are totally sandbagging us. they're saying that I have to get my lawyer and everything is gogin to have to go through my lawyer, even print out of my grades.</p>

<p>I was hoping that this will be resolved by the time i apply to college but it looks bad right now. so do u have any advice as to what i should put when I check the yes box on the question if "you ever been suspended or have any school related dispenary problem?"</p>

<p>i know my counseler is going to write somethign about it. what should i include in my explaination? should I tell them that if they have any questinos at all, to contact me? should i send a copy of the tape of the Borad of Education hearing? (in the tape, the teachers and principal kept tripping over their feet, saying one thing and then going back on that. etc.)</p>

<p>Theres only two things you can do: beg your lawyer to expedite his work on clearing your name before ur apps are due (assuming jan 1st) or in the "have you even been suspended" you explain it there, but also for your college essay you write on this subject and how this altered your life. You should write this essay anyway just in case you can not get into court on time, but you really do not want to have to check that box. Cheating on grades shows to them what type of student you are and then all your grades become suspect; getting into something like a fight means ur just still immature. So get to court asap.</p>

<p>As I read your posting, I just KNEW that there would be a lawyer involved in there, somewhere. Why else would the school go from accusing you of a very specific set of misdeeds, to then saying, "Oh, never mind... We just made a mistake."</p>

<p>You know what -- I don't buy your story at all. I think that you probably did some reprehensible stuff. And I suspect that the easiest thing for the school to do was to nail you for the possibly-bogus-but-nevertheless-documented "forgery."</p>

<p>Or did the school (and your teacher[s]) just take a vote during a boring faculty meeting, deciding which kid to randomly persecute this year? Lucky you: You won the contest?</p>

<p>You do protest too much. I ain't buyin' what you're sellin'. It sounds wrong. It smells wrong. It walks and quacks like a sleazy, cheating duck...</p>

<p>And I think that whatever you do re: college apps, you are definitely "ducked."</p>

<p>yeah lol, also when I read the post there must have been a reason for you to be have selected as the person who did those things. You probably did do something or were involved some how, just not admitting it to us; however, that does not matter if they dont have solid proof u did anything. So I stand by my previous post. But if you do go to court and you're called up on stand, and the opposing lawyer manages to find contradictions in what you tell them and it turns out u inadvertently admit to doing some of those charges, your screwed. So you might also consider cutting your loses.</p>

<p>umm actually at my school a few years back, there was a huge scandal (basically one kid committed a felony on school grounds) and they "accidentally" accused the wrong kid just b/c he tended to act up in class and fit the realllllly vague description of the criminal. He got suspended for a few days, even after the real perpetrator confessed. So sometimes schools definitely do "randomly persecute" kids...I guess they need SOMEONE to blame for w/e happened, and just choose someone who fits the bill! Yikes!!!</p>

<p>piglette, i don't feel any anger or any bad feelings toward what u said. If anything, this whole ordeal has taught me the importance of life and to being happy. to not soley live for a material thing such as grades or sports. </p>

<p>like i said it is a looog story. i'll add more to it now.</p>

<p>i'm not really a trouble maker. u know, not the type that smokes weed, fight, screw off school. however, i guess i have a sort of an cloud around me of fun, brashness, and ... whats the word... ehhh kind of a daredevil sort. espeically because i'm asian and i have this older brother who was all quiet and suck up. u know the story, how they expect me to be my brother and are shocked when i'm not. </p>

<p>anyways, my sophmore year, some kids or a kid did a prank to the school. they put bottles of pee in some lockers. Incidently, one of the lockers belonged to my ex-girlfriend. and they also taped these signs up saying stuff bout this one kid. bad luck for me, my ex still held a grudge, and that kid, i confronted about 4 months earlier for saying racist **** to me. so teh principal ask them " who did u think would do this." and my name came up. I got called in . no evidence, they let me go.</p>

<p>then 2 days later, i got called in because this person made a xanga site to basically say **** about the school and that one kid. there was policeman in there, and during the course of the interigation, the principal let it slip. We think ur involved because this xanga had a picture of a Ninja ( u know, ninjas are the shadow warrior). SoO i'm like... uh.. Ninja's japanese, I'm chinese. he's like " oh u know what i mean, it's all the same. for u people, it's all the same."

<p>i got so ****ed, i was like "u know u ain't got crap or otherwise arrest me right now. if you want to go, my parents will take u to court" ( earlier he also tried to cut me a deal by saying, "oh ur parents own a resturant and court will cost a lot of money and u will put a burden on them financially, and think of the image problem. ur parents will loss business. so fess up and u'll get just coummuity service" bascially saying " ur poor, i need a scapegoat")</p>

<p>what he didn't know was that my parents have money socked in a lot of land in NYC. </p>

<p>after all that, i got off cus the police said "u know u don't have anything on him." but ever since that day, the principal's attitude toward me was " u got away with one thing, ur not going to get away with another, no matter what" he totally took it personnal.</p>

<p>i'm trying to get this into court as fast as i can, but the school contacted my lawyer saying " they are still investigating"
I wrote to the board of education and they just turn teh letters over to the school office. and teh school office send me a nice cute letter saying basically " talk through ur lawyer, don't contact the board memebers again"</p>

<p>my parents went into teh school to try and get my grade sheets from my classes from last year. all the one's that I somehow got all C's the last quarter (the suspension shouldn't have affected those grades) . they're like "oh we don't know how to use the system." then i got pulled in later that day and got yelled at for bringing my parents in. " Didn't we say to go through everything with ur lawyer. bla bla bla" god i hate them</p>

<p>school systems totally can be pretty ****ed up in how they see themselves as all powerful. </p>

<p>oh and the principal is under investigation by the Distrcit Civil Right's coordinator. Should I include that in my explainations?</p>

<p>lol, wat else can i say but watever happened to real learning. This college admissions process is driving some ppl crazy, ruining the actual purpose of education for some. i don't mean to take the high moral ground but this is just kinda funny, albeit a little disturbing. </p>

<p>i don't know wat to say to 'help' you other than maybe u shud start re-evalutating what ur idea of education is and what ur goals are in life.</p>

<p>m/b i was a bit confusing in my story. no i didn't sneak into the school. that was all just stupid rumors and that charge got totally dropped. besides the school even had any little inkly that I sneaked into the shcool, I would have totally been charged with tresspassing and breaking and entering and got expelled.</p>
