And my phone call was good news. I was scheduling a road test!! Exciting, no?

very exciting! when are you taking it?

this is wack.

I’m taking it in mid-February–they’ll get back to me w/ the details (hopefully). I’m soo excited!

And Sheed30, what’s “wack?” I’m not asking for a definition, just an explanation btw.

so my dad took me in the middle of nowhere to teach me how to drive.
It’s a manual btw. So he said: “release the clutch slowly, and just gently rest your foot on the gas.” I yanked my foot off the clutch, and hit the gas all the way! (I was actually going for the breaks, but whatever) I lost control of the car, it jumped onto the side-walk whose edge ripped a huge hole in the tire. ![]()
lucky we had everything we needed though, there was no one for at least 5 miles…

I don’t like you guys.

If there was a sidewalk there, then it wasn’t “the middle of nowhere.” You should have gone to an empty parking lot or something. That’s what I do. It gives you good control on turns and stuff.
Great story though! It makes me feel like an amazing driver by comparison. :)

Why don’t you like us? Because the guy who posted above you didn’t include you in the thread title? Don’t worry–he didn’t include me either (even though we did used to post on all the same threads to all the same users…sigh…).

 am I going to have to put up with this for too long?!

p.s. an empty piece of land off the highway 40 km out of the city qualitifies as nowhere…

when I learned to drive a manual no one warned me they rolled backwards downhills. so when I was practicing, and I rolled down a hill I panicked and if it weren’t for the fact that I stalled I would have ended up in a swamp.
After that I was too scared to try again for over 6 months…
then the car I got was a stick so I HAD to learn…

today the same thing happened to me, but I nearly backed into another car, not a swamp…but it was cool. And I also drove on the highway, albeit at 50 kmph, but it was still fun..

after I got my car I would drive really far out of my way to avoid any hills at all. there were a few times this didn’t work though. there was one time I was driving some of my sisters friends and I could NOT get started up a hill at an intersection. it took probably 4 light cycles. the people behind me were not happy, and I think my sisters friends were absolutely terrified…

Hahaa–yeah, I hate hills! Whenever I have to drive up one, I always get stuck at a light and then have to take off so I slam my foot on the gas when the light turns green and hope for the best. Maybe I should learn hills before my test…

are you taking the test in a manual???
you’re crazy!!!

unfortunately for me, a manual is a must for the driving test. But the actual test is easy. All you have to do is drive forward in a letter ‘S’ and the same again, only in reverse. If you do it without hitting the sidewalk, etc..you pass.

I’ve never done manual.
I thought they were extinct now.

Not that you’re old or anything TVA…

if only they were extinct
it would make my life a whole lot easier…
