From 7th-10th grafe I used binders. Mysteriously, a large portion of my AP Euro notes vanished in 10th grade, not so good when the AP exam rolled around. At that point, I decided it wasn't working. When I was school shopping the next year, I found the 5 Star spiral notebooks I think ya'll are talking about, with the protectors. And I will never look back =). Most of my teachers requrie that we keep a binder, so when i turn it in I just turn in my notebook with my notes, while the binder holds loose papers, maps, etc. It works out well, I keep my binders in a few of my classes and leave them there. That way I don't have to carry them around.

why don't we just use both?

Notebooks..
Use less space
Don't fall out generally

Binders..
You can sift and sort pages around
And hold things on the side (to some extent, some notebooks also, but that usually requires cramming)

I like binders.

3 ring binders are the reason why i wake up each morning

I love composition notebooks.

I use binders because they allow for easy organization. I can't stand spiral notebooks (I never write notes in any of my classes).
