What lock do you recommend for a laptop? I have read some bad reviews of combo locks.

Do you really need a notebook lock?
From what I've heard, people rarely use them.
Would you really leave your laptop unattended that many times to go through the hassle of putting it on and taking it off?

Anyway, I suggest get a name brand such as Kensington, and look at reviews on amazon. Look for reinforced steel.
I prefer combo locks because it's easy to lose those keys, and once you lose the key, that pretty much sucks...

there are bad reviews for both combo locks and the key ones. both are easy to beat. however, not many people actually look up how and practice, so it's not a huge deal.

as long as it's a steel cable or whatever, it'll work. a normal key-lock config (like in a masterlock) is ideal, but almost all the ones you'll find have a combo lock or the circular keys.

I ordered one of these this morning: Buy the Kensington ComboSaver Laptop Lock and other Computer batteries & travel accessories at circuitcity.com

My dad got me a Targus lock without telling me recently, don't know the model but it's the standard lock they have at Bestbuy these days. I didn't want that model because I saw some bad reviews, but now that I've opened and tried it out it doesn't seem so bad. I can only imagine two scenarios where I would use it: at the library if I wanted to go to the bathroom or walk somewhere else for a bit, or at a large dorm party where the music would come through my laptop. But the first one is much more likely LOL.
