Are you applying for undergraduate? What type of math are you interested in? I think you will be fine at any of the schools you mentioned but are those really the best departments for you? I don't understand Brown......why isn't Univ. Wisconsin Madison on your list if Texas is? I am surprised that Princeton isn't on your list.

i do not know too much about US universities. most information comes from their home page. i would appreciate your help very much, if u give me some concrete advices about universities.

OK that make some difference. Have you taken Putnam Exam? How did that go for you? What area of math are you wanting to study? This is important really.

People, a gold at IMO means that this guy has one of the top mathematical minds in the world. It is a HUGE achievement.

wbtong, if your English skills are decent (did you take the TOEFL?) you have a very good chance at harvard mit and caltech. Keep in mind that as a international student, aid money will be very limited (though I'm sure being a freaking IMO medalist will get you some merit aid) at most schools, so if your family isn't well off you could have problems.

Nice post.........the OP must be brilliant and wanting to come to US. I gave him some contacts who speak Chinese and one prof he had studied w/ in China. I wish I had a small finger full of his math comprehension. That is certain.

Did you get the PM I sent you w/ the math departments linked to faculty and research projects? I hope you can read them well enough to learn what department is good for you. Chicago looks okay to me.

If you don't mind......what schools are the other students in your department applying to? Are all other students seeking US schools?

People on CC are all helpful. If you need other help to navigate directly to the dept or other help post here and someone will help you. It is a good resource to come here.
