noticing a trend...

So i've noticed a trend in acceptances (at least in this year's round) if more than one person applied to penn and they are all qualified, not all get in. one is always deferred so that they dont have a 100% yield. at my school, four applied. 3 got in, i got deferred. at another school, three applied, 2 got in, one deferred. these are both really good schools and all applicants are about the same academically. do you think that if more ppl apply rD from one school, that the chances of the deferred person might go up? also, do you think there is an advantage for having your last name start with a letter closer to "a"? i see that trend too, the ones closer to a are accepted. the one closest to z defered/rejected. again, this is a observation based on only a few accounts, and was just a vague speculation.

I’m pretty sure this doesn’t qualify as a trend since, as you said yourself, it was only based on a few accounts. I mean, I am a “Q” and I was accepted, while my friend with a last name starting with “B” was outright rejected.

i highly doubt that a super-selective institution would be so petty as to prefer students alphabetically

maybe its good news for Abigail Aaaaaaaaaaaaaanderson.

Aaron Aardvark should apply, too.

^^no need to be so sarcastic. more or less i was just wondering about the first half of my comment. the other parts were just ideas that popped up while i was typing. tenebrousfire, i see your point.

I was the only applicant from my school, deferred.

Three applied, two got in, I was deferred.

two applied, two deferred. I was one of them.

Two applied. I got in. Other rejected (both to Wharton) But I was significantly more qualified.

two applied and we both got in from my school

5 applied, 3 accepted, 2 rejected…though the 2 rejects weren’t qualified at all…

6 applied: I was accepted, 5 rejected.

^^^ doesnt that almost feel good? hahhaha
well unless those 5 are ur friends

same. 4 applied, me accepted and 3 not

hmm. so far, only amadeuic fits my description=my not so valid observations are officially null. still its interesting to see people post the outcome of their schools applicants! keep them coming! and closeyboy, you give me (and probably others) hope that penn can accept everyone from one school, although your numbers were small to begin with.

5 applied. 1 accepted. 2 rejected. 2 deffered

1 applied. 1 deferred.
(me)

:(

two applied, one deferred one rejected

just curious, are any deferrees still going to give it their all and try to get in?
