Noticing things on ED

A ton of people who were deferred or rejected didn't have any job or work experience and most of the people who were accepted did... im just saying. Any one else notice it?

i got a likely and all i had for job experience was like grocery store clerk…
shouldnt make a huge difference…

trackkid4224,
you are knitpicking

i didnt have any job or work experience and i got accepted ED

^ that right there

Working a crappy minimum wage job certainly isn’t a prereq for CU admision.

Generally speaking, track, I agree with you. It seemed as though real outside volunteer and work experience was valued highly in the ED round. Columbia seems to like when applicants show ways they’re putting their passions into practice (or is that praxis?) Obviously, not EVERY applicant had volunteer or work experience, but as a general trend (at least among the applicants who posted on CC), it seems to hold true. C02, I don’t think the emphasis is so much on “any work experience” as labor in the pursuit of a passion.

Well, I didn’t have work, but I am very involved in a volunteer organization which is tied to my sport. Good distinction pwoods.

Yes, but my answer is responsive to the OP because the guy’s question was specifically about jobs and work experience. You need to do something productive with your non-school time to get into Columbia, be it sports, music, volunteering, research, math competitions, debating, work experience, etc.
