I was looking at the 2008 threads to look at day/time that the e-mails came out. There seemed to be a number of members with problems receiving their decisions by e-mail.

Reading the posts there were references to verifying that you have opted to have the notification sent by e-mail and also to doing the "test" of the notification system. D went on-line and she has selected to be notified by e-mail and the e-mail address is correct. Then below it states the following:

Test your email by sending a message to college@fas.harvard.edu with "TEST" in the subject line. You will receive an automated response."

Has anyone tried this? How long does it take for the automated response? D did the test over an hour ago and no response as yet.

I was very surprised at the number of people last year stressed out days after 3/31 and no decision notification. I'd just like to prevent any added headaches in my house. :)

Thanks ontheradio, we are continuing to try and verify. First two tries were from my laptop which would default fill in my e-mail address which would not be my daughter's ie the applicants. We thought this may be why nothing has been coming back. Just now, D tried from her laptop which would have the matching e-mail address. We'll see what develops. MB the automated responses are only sent during office hours?

ya, i haven't got mine back yet. I know it's automated but it really might have something to do with it being the weekend and all. I dunno- not worried yet.

Well it has been 24 hours since our first of last night's multiple attempts. MB the responses are only triggered during Admission's office hours. Will continue to monitor.

Ok, it is Tuesday morning and there has been no response to the "TEST" e-mail. Wondering what the next step is. I assume that it is call admissions. Any thoughts?

D got the e-mail for the web account way back in on 12/2. I guess it was not tested because the initial e-mail came in. Good to know that yours took 2 day (were they both weekdays?). D is at 3 1/2 days since sending the test. Current thoughts are that she is going to call admissions once she gets home from school today to see what input they can offer.

D called today. I think that she said that they (HArvard) were looking into it and they appreciated knowing that there was a problem. I am not sure where that leaves us but we are going to continue to monitor the situation.

Looks like things are finally "tested". All the tests came in this morning, from all our attempts Friday night, yesterday as well as I believe one prompted by my daughter's phone call. Feeling better about the decision arriving in her in-box on March 31.

Further update - It would appear that the "tests" performed on friday are being responded to repeatedly. So far now, three responses to each of them (8:57 AM, 9:46 AM, 1:47 PM). In contrast, yesterday's test has only been carried out the one time and likewise there is only one response to the phone call.
