Notification - How / when ?

My parents are trying to figure out when we'll have time to visit my colleges this April, since we already have a few of the weekends in that month tied up with family obligations.

I've been looking all over, but if anyone knows when these specific schools release their acceptance/rejection notifications, it would really help me, especially since my mom keeps bugging me about it...

Penn, Cornell, Georgetown, Amherst, Williams, BC

Those are the schools that I might visit, depending on which ones I get into.

Does anyone know if those schools give out their notifications ONLINE or BY MAIL?
Also, when? ON April 1, or letters MAILED ON April 1? Or are some schools before/after April 1?

Any insight would really help alleviate some of the confusion... Possibly kids who currently attend these schools and remember from last year?

Thank you.

Bump.
This is important for me.

go to each college site and go to admissions area, there should be info there

if this is SOOO IMPORTANT look stuff up a bit

I did look stuff up (and don't appreciate the attitude... Isn't this a forum for asking questions?)... None of the college sites explicitly state the date that we (the applicants) will actually receive our notification (ON April 1, after April 1, before?). They also don't tell whether they will give decisions via Internet or solely through the mail.

Nor can we tell you that. They reserve the right to send out the information when they want, and if they send it snail mail, they can't tell you when the post office will deliver it.

or you can go to the college threads on this website and look up the information

sorry for the attitude, but jeesh

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6

Um, I tried that.
Can you stop suggesting things that you claim will answer my question but actually don't?
&Chedva: I was mostly hoping that people from last year (current college freshmen) would remember how/when they received their notifications, since it seems that information for this year is unavailable.

Search the old threads in the college forums themselves and you'll probably find it. Or post in each individual forum.

Yeah, I guess I shall try posting in each forum...

We emailed each school's admissions office to get the dates of accepted students' weekends. Some had them and gave them to us, some said they wouldn't have them until mid-March, and others said that they didn't have any formal programs for admitted students in April. The relevant posts we found from previous years on CC gave us some good general information but no specific dates.

All ivies will have their result out March 29 by 5pm, most schools you will be able to check on line or email notification. I wouldn't be surprised if those other schools be then to.

you don't need to post a new thread, there is a thread at each and every school already

just read through the thread

jeesh

Um, the first college forum I looked at was Cornell, and... No such thread...

Cornell is an ivy - March 29th.

Sweet deal.

I don't know if they are doing the same for RD, but Princeton only sent out snail mail for ED. Of course, people were calling Princeton to see when the letters were sent (supposedly the admissions office was cryptic, but the financial aid office told people when the financial aid letters (which come with the acceptance letters) were sent), the international applicants were tracking down packages sent from New Jersey to their country, and some people even hunted down the USPS trucks. Last year, applicants to Columbia discovered that the acceptance letters were sent via DHL, which allows you to track packages coming to your house online. It's rather amusing.

umm well unfortunatly BC is the last school to let us know!!! I am going to go crazy, but their website says April 15th, and it will have to be by mail because they don't have an online thing. But, from what I have heard, we will get them a few days before or after. So, I am in the same predicament that you are in. I am going to have like 2 weeks to make a decision!!!

Williams also says it's after April 1, and I think they do the snail mail thing too...doesn't leave much time to think about it until May 1...
