Notification of receiving NROTC Scholarship

Hello, I submitted my NROTC app on time for the first review cycle, and I was wondering if anyone knew when I should expect to find out the decision?
Would it be mid September? late September? October?

My son submitted his app in May of 2008…didn’t get the interview nailed down until September (due to a change in recruiters) and didn’t hear another word until late January of 2009. He has just started college at his first choice school and is loving it…but the level of communications is no better now! Pack your patience ~ there is a reason that the term SNAFU originated with the military! :)

I had my interview in May. All of my materials (transcripts, recommendations etc.) were submitted by July. My status on the application site says the normal awaiting selection thing. So, I would also like to know approximately when I should expect to hear yes or no.

My daughter had app completed and interview by late June. In time for 1st review…numerous SNAFUs. release forms came up missing. Pensecola sent email requesting other top 5 schools because 2 choices were in same unit. Status changed to final selection August 28. Does anyone know if that’s a good indication? When was the first review?

My daughter, who is waiting for a possible nrotc scholarship, received on August 20 a letter informing her that she’s an official candidate for the U.S. Naval Academy class of 2014. She never applied and prefers NROTC. Does anyone know how this was generated or what it implies?

^Yeah, I recieved the same thing(but I didn’t finish the app yet)?

When S1 applied, he had it all done by end of Aug. and had his letter by end of Oct.
This was five years ago though. He just graduauted/commissioned in May '09.
Good luck to all of you.

congratulations! hope we have the same fortune

My son did all the NROTC paperwork and medical forms during the summer of 2007, but didn’t get his scholarship offer until January. It can take plenty of time – but it turned out great. He just started his sophomore year and seems very happy.

My son completed NROTC and NA application by early Aug. 2007. He was selected on what I believe was the first NROTC board in September, and notified September 27. Naval Academy 3Q’ed came in late Oct. and final appointment was middle March 2008.

My D just found out this evening via status site she has been awarded NROTC scholarship to Boston University unit!!

Congrats Skiutah to you and your daughter!!!

Yes, congrats to your D,Skiutah. If she’s not already doing it, tell her to start running now!

Congrats to you and your daughter, Skiutah! It’s all downhill from here. :)

NOT!

Ha Ha  Thanks to all of you. Shes started running. I’m new to this forum but if I can help please let me know. I’ll update.

Seriously …hers is a wonderful, very exciting accomplishment. She’s on a grand path that will lead to extraordinary experiences and adventures. Most of all, she should be congratulated on her youthful commitment to serving our great nation and preserving the freedom that is our essence. Stay the course to this mighty calling.

I found out today (which supports my hypothesis that they usually upload new info on Wednesdays)!!!
I’m so happy =D Last night I was stressing out and wondering what I would do if I didn’t get the scholarship and couldn’t go Navy. Just keep believing in yourself and don’t doubt the system, it will work in time.
I was assigned my first choice, but I haven’t heard back from it yet (16 days to go…).

Good luck to everyone!

Congrats USNAgolden2014 and good luck with your first choice school!

Our son submitted his NROTC scholarship application in July so he’d be in for the first board review. We’ve been checking the website for updtes almost daily lately. We checked once again on Thanksgiving Day . . . .

"Selection Status

Congratulations!
You have been selected for a 4-yr Navy Option scholarship.
You are assigned to the NROTC Unit at Virginia Polytechnic Institute."

What a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! Now he just needs to send in his application to Tech. He has to apply regular decision since he is still hoping for appointment to USNA. He’s got one more MOC interview with Sen. Cardin in January. Then we TRY to be patient.

We met with the local recruiters and their commander last night and S2 was offered a 4 year NROTC schoarship, school to be determined.

S2 is also waiting on (i) USNA and (ii) acceptance to the schools listed in his NROTC application, 1 of 4 so far.
