Does anyone know how and when we're notified about acceptance/rejection?

on or aobut April 1st. Apparently last year letters started coming in around the 29th

Essentially, about three weeks... which is torture...

torture indeed! it almost makes me wish i was in a temporary coma...

So there's no kind of online notification?

If there were, wouldn't people spend hours online pushing the refresh button?

I was wondering about this too because my friend got her acceptance letter about a month ago. I applied maybe a week after she did and I still haven't heard from them. Do you know if there is anyway I can check my application status?

was it for new york university's general studies program? those go out early.

To "check your application status" you've got to call the admissions office. The only thing they'll tell you is if they've received everything for your application. They won't tell you if you got in.

My daughter has a friend who got an acceptance (Regular Decision) letter this weekend. Has any one else heard recently? We don't know of any others except those for gsp.

The friend must have gotten some sort of scholarship. A very small number of people on this board have received some sort of "Dean's Scholarship" notification this week.

No, I think she would have mentioned that. Could be that it's gsp and that part was left out.

threekids,

No regular decision letters have gone out yet. What your daughter's friend got was probably an invite to the March 31/April 1 weekend for top applicants. It's not an official acceptance, but it's an indication that she will get one in a few weeks.

Although her grades and courses are very good, I think her SAT might be a bit low which is why I'm thinking gsp. Not that that matters, I just wondered if it were possible that any official acceptance letters were out yet for RD applicants. No mention was made of an invitation to the weekend, just that she was accepted.

It's probably gsp then. If her SAT scores were low, she wouldn't be invited for the big scholarship weekend. It's late to be receiving gsp letters, though, but that's really the only thing it could be at this point.

well i know someone who received the gep letter just yesterday so i still the it can be gsp

From the people who applied last year, I heard that acceptances came out several days before rejections. Is this true? or was it just coincidence?

I would think that they would send all of the letter out around the same time... I don't know, though. They're sending out a ton of rejections this year.
