Does anyone know when Penn State University Park starts notifying their applicants? I applied at the end of September. I thought I would hear early November. Is that reasonable?

Has anyone else heard?

Has anyone else heard?

no, i think they'll start notifying people at the end of november.
an admissions counselor who visited my school from PSU said not to expect a decision until closer to christmas but i think it depends on when you applied. if you apply before november 1st then i think we will be notified after thanksgiving.

however, they are letting people know online this year so if you start checking your account (my application status) towards the end of november, you may know before you get your stuff in the mail if you're in

on my admissions tracker on collegeboard it says Nov1 psu will start notifying students of acceptance. but my friend who goes there said her one friend found out around thanksgiving and she handed hers in early as well

Thanks. I thought I heard Nov 1st too. How early is early? I got mine in Sept 21st. I think that is pretty early. I was hoping to hear early Nov

I applied in the middle of August last year. I did not hear back until they sent out their first wave of acceptances, about mid-late Nov (I heard right before Thanksgiving)

ok Thanks. Did you get into University Park without going to summer session? If so, do you mind sharing your GPA and SAT numbers? Trying to get an idea if I need to apply to more schools.

BTW....I have a 3.2 GPA UW and a 30 ACT with all honors 1 AP and 3 APs senior year. Lots a ECs and leadership etc if that helps.
Thanks for any input

Hey, yea I was accepted into the fall semester directly. I actually posted my stats a few posts down. I got into PSU's honors college so my stats are going to be inflated compared to that needed for regular admission.

ok thanks. I just want to get in to UP. I am bummed that I may not get in because of my GPA. I really have a B+ average. We use a 4.5 scale and it kind of messes things up because teachers rarely give A+s..they think that would be grade inflation...so that makes the B+s look like Bs. I am hoping my 30 ACT helps and my rigor of class load. I think PSU puts a lot of emphasis on GPA unfortunately.
Do you think so?

yes 2/3rds of the admissions decision is based on GPA at least it says so on the website. or it might be 1/3 but either way, there is a lot of emphasis on it

I sent in my application around October 23 and I STILL haven't heard back. My friend who submitted her application weeks after me already heard back. I'm like freaking out...why is my taking so long?
