Hi, So my 1st semester senior year i got an F in an elective class ("Calculus" non A-G) and then changed this elective class for something else because the teacher was not supportive, and quite honesty i feel a little discriminated that he made me take a group final test all by myself (the main reason i got an F).

I was recently admitted to UC Santa Barbara and this acceptance is obviously conditional, and one of said condition is to not receive a letter grade lower than a C. The University requires that i email them ASAP with the information as well as a detailed explanation for both the under-performing grade and the coursework change. I have heard of a similar case in a much older threat in this forum about a student who received an F in AP Calculus and the University told him/her that as long as his/her GPA did not drop below a 3.0 everything was good. In my case my GPA of (approx.) 3.83 dropped no lower than a 3.5 and its probably going to get better by the end of the year. I am really scared because UCSB is my top choice and i really want to go there. Any ideas on how i can explain this whole ordeal all together without jeopardizing my admission too much?

I'm sure an elective class in "Calculus" that is not required for my graduation (and that is well beyond the math graduation requirements) should not be such a great deal, but i'm scared that the name of the class will have a bigger impact than if this class was "woodshop" or the like.

Any input as well as support on this would be much appreciated as this is very delicate and important to me, and this is about the only place i can turn to for support. I would really appreciate help with how to communicate this to the office of admissions. Thanks in advance!
