I finally have my applications list narrowed down to four colleges, and Notre Dame is one of them. In fact, it tops the list right now. A girl is going there from my school this fall on the Lilly Scholarship, and she was definitely my idol these last three years. I'm curious about their financial aid, and I guess I should also post my stats for all the world to see and tell me if I have a shot in the dark of getting in to Notre Dame. I'm a rising senior ICYCT.

ok a few things here. First, apply to more than four schools; just my personal advice. Second, in my opinion, you could do alot better than Notre Dame (and yes i think you have a very good chance.) And third, why ask? You seem like a smart girl, aren't you bright enough to realize that those stats are well beyond Notre Dame?

Ryfrky07...thanks...i was just kidding about the methodist thing :)

BigE1508...actually, I didn't think that my stats were beyond ND; I thought that my ECs were too few in number. I guess that just proves that CC is bad for "college-app-esteem":D As for applying to more than four schools, I am limited to Indiana for my undergrad work, but if you know of some GOOD schools in IN, please let me know.

That's kind of disturbing. I'm also from Indiana, and my stats are very similar to yours. 3.925 UW GPA, 720 M, 800 CR, 770 W, 33 ACT, 221 PSAT. I'm also not Catholic. Notre Dame is my top choice. Good luck!

Emswim....are you going for the Lilly, too? We are really similar. My new ACT is a 34, and I'm planning to become either an equine vet, a pediatrician (with a subspecialty), or a pathology/genetic researcher. What school do you go to? Good luck to you too, btw, and if we go to the same school, we absolutely have to meet up somehow :) Your name is probably Emily, though, not Erin Michelle, right? :D

The Lilly is a full ride scholarship with other fringe benefits for students living in IN planning to attend school in IN and major in science (i think on the science major). It's very prestigious as Indiana scholarships go, and is awarded on a county-wide basis. The number of kids who get it each year depends on how much money is in the Lilly Endowment fund; last year it was 2/county, but in the past there have been up to 6/county. The Lilly is based on academics and how good of a person you are, complete w/ interview:D

This kid, who got into Duke and Dartmouth from my school with 1550 SATs, got rejected from Notre Dame which he viewed as his "safety". He claims that it was because he's a middle-class Catholic from Long Island.

eekk.... Florida has Bright Futures..which is 100% tuition to state schools...no privates..and there are pretty low requirements so lots of ppl get it. And then theres Gold Seal or whatever which is 75% tuition and the only ppl who don't get that dont have a pulse.

It's funny, but kids who want to apply to Notre Dame on these boards consistently ask for their chances and they are all fine, fine applicants!

As is, you have a good shot at being accepted. In terms of financial aid, of the eight schools I was accepted to, Notre Dame offered one of the best packages. Also, in early-to-mid-april you'll start to receive a ton of mail from local alums who want you to apply for their "Alumni Club Scholarships." From what I understand, there is virtually no competition since I am led to believe it's operated on an "everybody wins" basis (I mean, who'd want to get rejected by the Alumni Association after they get accepted to their school? and considering the 'ND begets ND' attitude of the Fighting Irish, they won't leave anyone one of their 'family members' dissatisfied). I believe the average monetary award for the scholarship was $10,000 (with 2000 winners and $2 million given out). There is a lot of money floating around South Bend, so you should only expect the best! Best of luck,

No problemo, I'm not from Indiana so I don't know about the Lilly scholarship. And also to revise- after I was notified that I was the recipient of an Alumni Club Scholarship, Notre Dame's financial aid (when revised) was easily the most generous of my schools'. Yes, humility is awesome!!! Congrats on your accomplishments...
