tell me please in order to brag to others lol jk but seriously, i'm wondering...

Here is the link do the math I am too lazy!

[The Observer - Class of ?14 promises diversity](http://www.ndsmcobserver.com/news/class-of-14-promises-diversity-1.1308414)

so i guess thats about 27% ish…thanks!

it usually varies between 23-27% and this year its closer to 27%

It is because of the economy, less people are applying. In 2000-2005 when the US had a ton of money the acceptance rate was about 20-22%.

That’s not true. Notre Dame had a record high in applicants this year. More people applied to Notre Dame than ever before.

ND accepted more than usual to hedge against the economy. I hope they didn’t over-enroll.

The 2010 rate was 27.63% v. 26.77% in 2009. Total admits went up slightly more than 4% from 2009. This does not include over 200 students that were admitted off the waitlist in 2009.

while the number of applicants went up, the university also accepted more because of the economy.

Um, bad economy = more applications to T25 Schools.

“Um, bad economy = more applications to T25 Schools”

ummm, prove it. Who is to say the presence of the common app = increased applications? Which is the reason the Ivies all experienced increases in the last few years.

more applications:
- more high school students are applying overall (a greater % of the HS class of 2010 are applying to college vs previous years. Not certain of numbers, but something like 70% of all HS students apply, compared to <68% previously.
- more international students overall
- students are sending out more applications (approx. 10-17 on average vs 1-2 when I was a college student…numbers are not exact) This factor particularly increases with a weak economy, as students can qualify for fee waivers, and want to compare financial aid packages.
- more students are familiar with ivies, and ivies are also known to provide need-based aid = more applications.
