I haven’t been able to find any of this information online. Does ND admit by major or just overall school. I ask this as I applied to Mendoza and am worried if I am not qualified then I will be rejected to Nd as a whole. I know ND is not easy to get into regardless of major but would having picking a more obscure major as my second choice helped or will they just admit to college of arts and sciences. Thanks and sorry if this is hard to understand. Go Irish
“FIRST YEAR APPLICANTS INTERESTED IN THE BBA DEGREE
Students at Notre Dame are admitted to the University’s First Year of Studies, not to an individual school or college. However, upon application to Notre Dame, all students are asked to make a non-binding indication of the college or school, and specific major or discipline they intend to pursue.
Applicants who indicate an intent to enroll into the Mendoza College of Business will be informed at the time of admission whether they are “preapproved” to do so at the end of their first year. Those that are accepted by Notre Dame, but not preapproved for Mendoza, may pursue any other college and major and avail themselves of the transfer application processes noted below if their interest in business continues. Students preapproved to major in business who change their minds, are free to major in any other college or school at Notre Dame. The timing of the switch may have consequences, however, that should be carefully considered.”
@HoosierBoiii my husband and son visited in spring of 2017 and returned saying that Admissions indicated the increased level of competitiveness for ND has made it very hard to be accepted at all if Mendoza was a first choice and you didn’t make the cut. However, this must be a case-by-case decision and it’s possible that someone’s still a great fit for ND and perhaps for a liberal arts major such as Econ. A lot probably depends on how the application reads and whether the individual would be happy in another major other than business. Choosing an obscure major just to get in . . . pretty sure Admissions has seen that one before. It’s better to come across as genuine
