Notre Dame, can anyone chance me?

Hello, I am a Muslim-American male student, with parents from North African/Middle Eastern backgrounds, wanting to apply to Notre Dame.

Public High School
Top 2% in school, in class of 500 students.
GPA: Unweighted 3.9 Weighted 4.65
ACT: 35 (English 35 Math 32 Reading 36 Science 36 Writing 33) (My writing was from the wanky new grading scale, so…)
No AP classes
SAT II Tests: Have not taken any, but am projected to get 800’s on both Literature and Math 2 (null at this point)
Full IB Student (IB Diploma Applicant)
Senior Year Coursework: IB Calculus, IB Psychology, IB Senior Literature, IB World History 2, IB Biology 2, Theory of Knowledge (IB class), IB Spanish 5, IB Chemistry, and a slew of online honor classes that interest me.
EC: I do stuff… Got a cool finance club I am the head of, we do competitions, led my team to state. Was a historic moment in our region. I am a part of our school’s key club, I do not do any sports, but that is it. If you include Nation Honors Society. I may try for President, with a good shot at winning, but at this point, that’s null. I have been on honor roll every year. I got a Silver Key from the Scholastic Competition.
Volunteering: I volunteer at the biggest hospital in my state, which happens to be catholic. I assist at the gift shop, helping people, restocking, and am trusted with handling money (gasp!), and I also volunteer at the ER, help patients and visitors, clean rooms, and learn many things about the on goings of a hospital. I have 500+ hours logged in. Also, I want to go into surgery, if that means anything to the admissions officer. I also have a workshop teaching anyone Arabic for free, through a local library. I do it during summers, but will start in Christmas break this year. I also do work with my local VFW association.
Letters of Recommendations: I know my counselor really well, so I am sure she will write a great one. I will ask the teacher who heads the Finance Club for a letter also, because he and I have managed to do some amazing things in a very short time.
Personal Essay: Did you see that ACT writing score? That was when kids getting 36 got 19’s on their writing. The Dark Ages. But seriously, the only outstanding thing about me is probably my writing prowess. My essay, which I already wrote and had reviewed, will be good, I think.

The main reason why I want to go to ND is because it has an amazing campus, with top notch facilities, and above all, is a Catholic School. By that, I mean it will mostly have people who will not party all night and not drink alcohol in large takes. I am a conservative Muslim, who would dearly enjoy a nice group of people who think like me in that way.

Write some great essays and I think you have a decent shot but nothing is certain at a school as competitive as ND. Also I know ND doesn’t have Greek life and is a catholic school but don’t underestimate how much college kids in the midwest middle of nowhere can drink. ND might not be the biggest party school ever but it certainly throws some wild parties and it’s certainly no BYU or Pepperdine.

I agree with @blueguy99. It’s a fantastic school and I think you’ve got a good shot, but don’t expect for there not to be drinking and partying, because there is drinking and partying there.

Well, if there is less, than that is all I want. I want to know, is there anything especially weak about my application?

I would not say there is less than most colleges - about the same, although I suppose it’s hard to compare. Your resume is solid.

i would agree with everyone else: ND has it’s fair share of partying and drinking so keep that in mind.

@GoodDay2You In my opinion, the weakest part of your credentials are your EC’s. The largest amount of your volunteer hours were at the hospital and one could interpret your interest in volunteering was out of a desire to “learn many things about the on goings of a hospital”. Notre Dame is looking for people who have a sincere concern for and commitment to helping others. That doesn’t come across well in your original post, not the way that you described it anyhow.

Your stats definitely put you in the discussion. I would think you have a little better than 50% chance of getting in, assuming that you have some high quality essays. The key to getting an offer will probably be your essays.

Colleges need diversity so I think that you being muslim-american could help you. I think your stats are great and even though Notre Dame is a reach for many, I think you can do great.

I dont know what to say. Your resume is near perfect, but my cousin got rejected with the same resume as you, legacy, no financial aid, and his parents donated heavily there. Best of luck, please chance me back
