Hi, I’m currently a junior looking to apply to the University of Notre Dame REA in November, and I’m uncertain of my chances. Notre Dame is definitely my first choice and dream school – though I know there are many, many applicants who would say the same thing – and I applied to the Summer Scholars Law Program. Here’s my basic information:
(Possible?) Hooks:
-Dad graduated from ND '87
-Multi-Racial (Filipino/Chinese/American) URM?
-Geographic: applying from South Carolina
-Attending private school ranked 5th in the state
-Religious Affiliation: Roman Catholic
-Female (probably not a hook, but just wanted to add that)
SAT (taken every year since 7th grade, taking the current SAT in three days and the redesigned SAT in less than a month)
Grade 9:
-Critical Reading 670
-Math 550
-Writing 550
Total: 1770
Grade 10:
-Critical Reading: 740
-Math: 570
-Writing: 650
Total: 1960
As you can see, I struggle with math, and I’m really, really trying to improve my scores with the help of a math tutor.
Extracurriculars:
-Cross Country since 9th grade
-Soccer since 7th grade, captain of the JV team in 9th grade, Varsity goalkeeper in 11th grade and hopefully 12th grade
-Altar Server since 5th grade
-Youth Group
-National Honors Society
-Feminist Club
-Filipino-American Association
**This may sound stupid, but if I were to be signed to a modeling agency, would that be considered an extracurricular activity, or is that irrelevant?
Internship/Work Experience: part-time cashier over the past summer, planning to assist team of graduate students at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine this summer & intern at the pharmacy of a local psychiatric hospital.
Junior Year Core Classes: AP Bio, AP US History, AP Language & Composition, Honors Spanish IV, Pre-Calculus
My school doesn’t offer IB classes and offers AP courses to only Juniors and Seniors. I’m hoping to take 3-4 AP classes next year (AP Physics/AP Gov/AP Literature & Composition/AP Spanish V).
GPA (My school does not have a class rank and only reports our weighted GPAs to us)
-Grade 10: 4.1
-Grade 11: 4.3 (as of first semester)
This isn’t the entirety of my resume, but I think it gives an overview of my academic career thus far. I am absolutely in love with Notre Dame, but I’m also aware that my credentials may not be enough to get accepted. Please let me know if you think I have a chance or not!
