I'm a legacy student.

I applied to ND's Global Issues Seminar this summer and was rejected (only accepts 40 students)...

I go to a Catholic high school, and we had three students get accepted to ND this year. All will be attending.

Just wondering if it looks like I'm missing anything. You never know with a school like ND. I'm planning on applying early action.

From what I’ve read/seen in the past, it looks good–but how long have you been taking piano & altar serving? You’ve got the numbers for sure, the EC’s look alright–it looks like you’re really into languages/cultures and track/XC. Make sure you write essays about something you’re passionate about that’s also apparent in what you’re putting elsewhere in the application.

Honestly, it looks like you’ve got good chances, but like you said, you can never know with top schools like ND. You’ve got the grades, the scores, the ECs, the service, the drive, but nothing will ever be certain until you get that letter in December.

(On a side note, I’m pretty sure I’m going to be applying EA to ND this year too–good luck to the both of us!)

Wow domenic, you weren’t kidding when you said we had almost identical resumes! That’s funny. You really trump me on the grades* and legacy status, two things that I think really boost you ahead and give you a very solid shot! Good luck man!

Semi-relevant factoid: Earlier in the past schoolyear I was talking with my theology teacher (who’s actually an ND alumnus, btw) and he said that on average, the advantage legacies get in admissions is equivalent to about 160 points to their SAT score. (I think it was 160; if not, somewhere in that ballpark.) I mean, not that you need it at all or anything, but if any university is known for legacies it’s ND.

You don’t know what you are talking about.
