Notre Dame Class of 2023 REA Thread

@sj2019 I totally relate to that feeling. I was SO incredibly nervous because I had fallen head over heels in love with Notre Dame. Honestly, the way I coped with the stress was by leaning on my faith and trusting in God. I trusted that if I didn’t get into ND, God had something better for me. That allowed me to let go and accept that it was out of my control. The moments leading up to opening the portal were some of the scariest of my life but approaching it with immense trust in God helped me a lot. So I would recommend that. And I talked a lot about how stressed I was to my friends and teachers, haha. It’s good to get our feelings out to people we trust.

Thanks, @collegegirl6789! I brought up notification date this morning. My daughter thought she would be notified on December 15th. I told her to check her email this week so she knows when she will be notified because it might be sooner! She has been really busy until this week with two ECs that ended, one on Friday and one on the previous Saturday. That has kept her mind off notification.

I have a question for you as well. The consensus seems to be that the notification date will be December 12. Is that because notification is usually on a Wednesday? Is there another reason? Thanks!

No email notification yet!

@katrina1 is there suppose to be?

@HM0527 Here is what @collegegirl5678 wrote:
“We received an email on Wednesday, December 6, saying that decisions would be released in mid-December. A week later, on December 13, we received an email at 6:50 pm Eastern time saying that decisions were available – but the portal became available at 6:42. I would guess that decisions will be released on 12/12 at 6:42 EST this year and if not that day definitely sometime that week.”

I am now asking my daughter to check daily for an email that might come out this week saying when decisions are available. It’s December 3 today. Maybe on December 5, she will get an email!

Last year my son got the email on Wednesday evening the 6th. I’m assuming it’ll come out any day now. Everyone was predicting that decisions would come out the following Monday - because of the previous year - but it was Wednesday. I would say any day next week is possible.

@katrina1 awesome!! I’ll ask my D to keep checking her email. It seems as if kids really don’t do that very often LOL Best of luck n God’s graces for your daughter.

I agree with the above ^^. My reason for picking Wednesday was last year’s trend, but again, last year we were all SO certain it would be Monday because that’s what happened in 2016. I am confident it will be next week (because we have finals, and I believe there is a pretty strong record of the decisions being released during finals week).

I think I’ll have to switch to asking my daughter to check her email once a day after 18:42 PM EST!

Thanks, @collegegirl5678, for contributing to this discussion and letting us know what you know!

@katrina1 Just to clarify: REA decisions will be posted at 18:42 pm Notre Dame time, the E-Mails announcing that decisions have been posted will be going out in waves, some time after that time.

On the other hand, this week’s e-mail message that REA decisions will be released mid-December is expected approx. one week before actual outcomes will be released, this may happen any time during the day.

@hpsa, Thanks for the clarification! I just wanted to discipline myself to ask her to check her email only once a day! Actually, I think it best now just to let her do the checking. If anyone gets an email, please let all of us know! My daughter is very nervous about this. She saw Notre Dame and that was it – she didn’t want to go anywhere else!

Thanks for all your insight, everyone. You can bet that I’ll be checking my email every couple hours and hoping for a positive message!

Please, @bachbend, let us know as soon as you get an email. I don’t want to stress my daughter about this. She is trying to keep her mind off Notre Dame until a decision comes out, and I am doing my best not to bring up Notre Dame to her. Thanks!

For those who may have missed this earlier post (#96), reposting it again:

Notre Dame began releasing REA decisions online starting with the Class of 2020.

Class of 2020: REA decisions were released online on Mon, 12/14/2015, at 6:42 pm Eastern
Class of 2021: REA decisions were released online on Mon, 12/12/2016, at 6:42 pm Eastern
Class of 2022: REA decisions were released online on Wed, 12/13/2017, at 6:42 pm Eastern (not surprisingly, there were a lot of disappointed applicants on Mon 12/11/17, as last year’s REA applicants figured it would follow the same release schedule as the prior 2 years.)

In all 3 previous REA cycles, it appears that ND sent out an email 5-7 days before the decisions were posted alerting applicants that decisions would be posted in “mid December.” That only built the anticipation further.

In addition, in all 3 previous REA cycles, while the admissions decisions were posted online at exactly 6:42 pm Eastern, the email notification to applicants that the decisions were available came out about 10 minutes later.

Good luck to everyone. I like the supportive nature of people on this thread.

I want to second the supportive nature on this thread statement. I’m a high school senior and out of all the different college threads I’ve looked into this one by far has the best energy. So basically I want to say thank you to everyone on here for making me more relaxed about college instead of very very nervous!

@GeronimoAlpaca @doctorunusual I ? agree. I’m a parent and everyone on this thread has been so positive and uplifting. No negativity or “bragging” about which I’m sure you have seen a lot of. I was y’all the best and I hope you both receive the news you have been wanting! Out of curiosity, when y’all get accepted to ND will you be attending??? ?

@doctorunusual Thank you for your posting! As many contributors on the CC Notre Dame thread are current ND students, ND parents and/or ND alumni, the supportive nature is a reflection of the university’s culture and its approach to undergraduate education overall. Best of luck to you - are you a REA or a RD applicant this cycle?

I agree that this thread has been very positive and I would suspect that the vibe of this thread is similar to the vibe at ND, which is my son’s first choice by far! Good luck to all…it won’t be long now.

I also love how uplifting everyone is  if we get in, we should make a message group or something like that! does anyone know if an official results thread has been created yet?
