Notre Dame Class of 2023 REA Thread

Thanks @billshears65. I was hoping it was some sign that decisions would be today.

In my view the regular decision process is going to experience a surge in applications in light of the fact that the ND football team in the national championship playoff. Applications jump dramatically with every school that has a great year in sports(mainly basketball and football).

ND Admissions really tries to limit deferrals so if there is a surge in applications for regular admission then in my view I would prefer to be REA .

@WineLover, Here is where I can help! I saw that Admitted Students Day was up at least by October 23 because on that day I booked a hotel room in Mishawaka for the first weekend in April. We make our kids attend Admitted Students Day for their top two choices, so I looked up Admitted Students Day and went ahead and booked a hotel room using booking.com which makes it easy to cancel a booking if you donā€™t go.

@katrina1 whoa! Good idea! Probably too late ton do that now?

@katrina1 Thanks for the tip! I just made a reservation for the weekend that works best for us. Hoping we donā€™t have to cancel

@WineLover, I hope neither of us has to cancel! I did also book for move in day in the fall:

If you use booking.com, just make sure you select rooms where you can cancel if your child does not attend Notre Dame. Some rooms are non-refundable on booking.com. We have a kid graduating from college on Friday, and he attended college in a small town so we learned to book rooms way ahead for move in and move out days.

Can someone link the admitted students day? I canā€™t find it in NDā€™s site. Thank you!!!

Sorry to return to the previous discussion, folks, but I know from my own experience as an REA applicant this year, the idea of coming up with an institution equivalent to ND is almost impossible. The rest of my schools (besides ASU, my state school) are small LACā€™s with tight-knit communities, but usually for other reasons than faith and sports and pride (i.e. Wellesley College, a school Iā€™d go mad to attend as I would with ND) which does not at all makes this waiting easier!

@katrina1 Those are the 2018 dates. Are you going on the assumption that it will be the same weekend?

Donā€™t forget the new Embassy Suites that opened near campus two months agoā€¦

I could be wrong with these appear to be 2019 dates:

For the lucky kids who do get admitted to ND in the REA round, thereā€™s an earlier, smaller and (imo) better alternative to the big admitted students day in April.

Most/all of the separate undergrad colleges has its own REA admitted student open house during February. Smaller, more focused and substantive, and less choreographed than the bigger events. A couple years back, my kid thought the REA open house was a really good way to check out the school as compared to a big fiesta. Even if the school doesnā€™t officially arrange dorm sleep overs, it is pretty easy to do that on your own. My kid stayed over with another ND student from our area that she connected with through the local ND alumni club.

If your kid is still considering a few different schools, making campus trips in April can get very hard to fit in. Especially hard to do more than one in April. So doing a campus visit during the slow days in February is a nice option.

In years past, some portion of the REA kids will also get invites to the Reilly visit program, which is another smaller (invitation only) program for admitted students.

Good luck this week!!

oh my goodness what if it is today ahhhhhhhhhh

@northwesty Thank you so much for sharing that information.

@sj2019, Perhaps, would be nice. I am betting tomorrow though.

Called the admissions office at 574.631.7505

They said decisions wonā€™t be released until next week. I donā€™t know why everyone on the thread is wasting their time speculating the past few days instead of just calling admissions lol

My best guess would be the 12th and 18:42 (6:42) EST

I likely not today, Iā€™d expect Wednesday

@northwesty, Great tip on early admit days! I just called the number listed for Notre Dame admissions and the woman told me that the date for release of decisions will probably be later this week but will not be today.

I also called admissions today as well. They did not say next week. All they said is that it would be some time before Christmas. So yes, it could be next week, but it could also be this week. Anyone else want to call and see what they say, because there seems to be conflicting information now.
