Notre Dame Class of 2023 REA Thread

@aspen22 The 2018 College Board’s Concordance Table is the most accurate published info available. Maybe you’re looking at the older 2016 Concordance Table or maybe a different one from a site that’s not the CB. In any case, the CB is the only table that should be used for concordance.

And yes, the concordance did increase.

Thanks @sushiritto. It seems like most people report ACT scores on this site, so I wanted to check out the concordance chart. It does seem like it’s been updated and the 1480 is a 33.

ND just posted an admitted student video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDENDNM3o2k

I don’t know if that changes the estimated date of release, but I think it’s useful information.

@aspen22 Here’s a non-CB website that offers a comparison of the 2016 and 2018 SAT-ACT concordance tables:

https://mytutor.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/sat-act-concordance-chart-2016-v-2018-rev.pdf

So, your SAT score of 1,480 was a 32 and is now a 33. I think we’re derailing this thread, so my apologies to all the readers and posters here.

@JustLetMeInPlz “This video is unavailable.”

Wait so is the consensus that it will be this week or next week? I’ve seen on this thread that people have called admissions and got conflicting responses. I am very confused. It wouldn’t make sense that it would not be this week as finals are this week so wouldn’t the university be closed after this week?

i think we will be hearing this Friday. Typically college counselors get an idea of which students from their school are admitted by speaking with the reps before decisions are released. My counselor has a call set up on Friday…

Do you all think being at a school that’s definitley not connected to ND gives a disadvantage? I’ve noticed many on this forum go to schools with access to legacies/ND alum associations and I live in the middle of nowhere and have none of that. I dunno, I suppose i’m in the overanalysis segment of self doubt ?

@bachbend I don’t really think so. It might show you have added interest, but I don’t think it will make or break it. And @atniuqaig Do you go to a private school? I go to a public school, and there is no way that’d be possible for my school because there’s 1000+ kids in my graduating class.

@atniuqaig Yes, this information fits with earlier rumors in terms of a slightly later than usual REA decision announcement - resulting from additional workload from higher number of REA applications. Therefore am changing my prediction from previously this week on Wednesday to Friday. Still feel that a “heads-up” e-mail, as in previous cycles, last Friday evening would have been helpful to everyone involved and would have provided at least some predictability in terms of the timing.

It will be this week, either Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. They do release the notifications to the portal at 6:42 p.m. ET, and then follow up with an email right away and something in the regular mail, either the good-news big envelope or the not-so-good-news smaller envelope (usually deferrals and not rejections, though that is possible) a few days later. Our high school has a very good relationship with Notre Dame, and when the ND counselor visited, she said it would be Dec. 12, 13 or 14. Good luck to all!

@hpcsa have you ever heard of counselors getting calls first?

@HM0527 Yes, this is more than just mere rumor. The HS of our daughter, a traditional feeder school for Notre Dame that sends approx. 17 - 20 students/admission cycle, has a comparable process with Notre Dame Admissions, I believe. Of course this also very much depends on the initiative of the respective HS Counseling Office. The HS will not, under any circumstances, inform the affected students in advance, however. The interest of the HS is to measure and benchmark their College admission performance vs. previous years and to draw conclusions for possible improvements going forward, in support of their students. Which is as it should be.

So is the consensus now Wednesday or Friday? I’m very worried.

I’m hoping the first generation hook pulls through even though I’m not from a Christian family.

@FirstGenLife I’m sure with you applying REA you have more than just first generation working in your favor ?

@FirstGenLife The fact that you are not from a Christian family does not put you at a disadvantage at Notre Dame. Like any other ND REA (and RD) applicant, the “why Notre Dame?” aspects of your application, together with good academic credentials, will make the difference for you. Notre Dame is looking for students who will be able to benefit most from a Notre Dame education, making positive contributions to the university and to society as a whole. Very best of luck and success to you!

@hpcsa I talked about giving back to community, helping those who can’t help themselves, inspiring others, first gen achievements, and a personal story from India

Excellent @FirstGenLife ! Simply remain calm and confident.

For the Class of 2022, Catholics represented 80% of the class. And according to the CDS, religion is “considered” when evaluating appplications. However, we don’t know how many of the applications came from students who were Catholic. But, 80% Catholic students for the Class of 2022 is a statistically significant number.

@sushiritto Yes, yet you have to consider self selection being a very important consideration here. Notre Dame very consciously is looking for diversity, in all ist important and enriching considerations, without giving up on academic rigor in any way.
