As an AA female with a 34 ACT interested in engineering, you should be a strong candidate. Your GPA might be a bit low, but if your high school is “top 100”, then ND’s adcoms will be familiar with it as well as the rigor it demands.

I like your ECs, but please figure out a way of being more descriptive than “TAKES UP ALOT OF TIME”. Many students can claim to have spent considerable hours playing video games but they have not had any impact (I am not equating EMT volunteering with playing games, by the way, I am just trying to make a point). Focus on the specific accomplishments of your time working as an EMT and emphasize any recognition that you have received.

You might consider contacting ND’s Admissions Office, either Gilbert Martinez who is the Diversity Coordinator, or LaShane Saddler who runs AA Recruitment. I have communicated with both gentlemen and found them helpful, even as a non-minority. They will likely be able to offer you sound advice and insight to ND’s admissions process. Here is a link to their email addresses:

Thank you, so much for the reply ! In my school my UW and W are in the ball park for notre dame admission ( my GPA is only a tad under the average ).

Get math 2 up past 750 and you’re golden. Cornell accepted my friend who had an upward trend from 3.1 to 3.4 and she was an URM engineer. And her SAT was a lot lower. Just make sure that essay’s good.

I am at ND right now, and I would say that you are a great candidate! Just some suggestions: contact the regional admissions rep and play up your diversity! Also when you write your essays, ND loves to hear about community and faith!
