I am a current senior and I am planning on applying to the University of Notre Dame. I am considering applying early action, but I'm afraid to mess up my chances of getting in. I'm a female with an intended major in mechanical engineering and minor in econ/business.
I go to high school in Indiana where I have a 4.0 GPA unweighted, and I'm 1 out of approx. 400 in my class.
Because of the options offered at my school and the way our schedule is with trimesters I will have taken 7 AP classes by graduation [Junior: AP Chem (3) and APUSH (5), Senior: AP Calc, AP Lit, AP Physics, AP Gov, AP Bio] and all other classes are honors.
ACT: 34 composite (35 S, 35 R, 35 E, 32 M)
Varsity soccer 4 years --> 2 years as captain
Varsity tennis 3 years --> 1 year captain
Member of my city's Mayor's Youth Advisory Council
Commended National Merit Scholar
Hospital volunteer
Actively involved in my Catholic community --> catechist and lector for my parish
Kick-Off Mentor to freshmen --> 2 years
Business Professionals of America member --> first place at Indiana State Leadership Conference for economic research project (individual) and member of first place Fair Trade team at BPA Nationals
Member of the social studies academic team --> 1 year captain
Student Council member --> 4 years
Founding member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes
National Honor Society President
Part-time employee at Ritter's Frozen Custard
My common app essay is pretty strong
My teacher recommendation is absolutely amazing (written by my English teacher of two years who is an ND alum)
Should I apply EA or wait for Regular? Any comments are greatly appreciated!

You’re a strong applicant and have a really good chance of getting in either way. EA is also sometimes advantageous because it shows that you care enough about the school to get your things together earlier than RD.

Definitely apply EA, but have other options. If ND is your first choice, make sure your supplemental essays reflect that without being cliche. Make sure they know that you get what ND is about. I’d be surprised if you aren’t admitted. Good luck!

Thank you for your responses! ND is definitely my first choice. I’ve been obsessively reading admissions stats for the past year. Ejcclc, I think you messaged me with some really great advice over the summer. I’m having my AP language teacher go over my essays with me because I know they need to be perfect. I just really want to get in!
