Notre Dame Engineering vs. Northwestern Engineering

I have to make the decision between the two by November 7th because of a scholarships program where I have to rank one higher than the other, and will be bound to enroll in whichever one of the two that I rank higher (this is, of course, assuming that I get in to both)
Acceptance aside, I am having a ridiculously hard time trying to decide which school would be a better fit for me.
I would love the opportunity to explore my Catholic background more in depth, but it is not a priority.
Being close to Chicago would be nice, whereas South Bend is.... South Bend.
I want to be challenged academically, which I know will not be a problem at either school.
The co-op program at NU is a big deal for me, but I love the "family" aspect of ND.
I am really worried about being able to find a job after college, but I don't know how either school would affect that differently.
In the long run, which is a better school for engineering? If it is Northwestern, I do not know if I will be happy there as I have not yet visited and probably won't have the opportunity to before November 7th.
Any and all advice/help is endlessly appreciated.

Career center at ND is fabulous…not to mention the strong alumni network for possible future employment.

And you are right about the
“Family” aspect of ND. Engineering is a very difficult major-having a superb support system makes it bearable.

ND may not be ranked #1 for engineering, but you will get a solid education!

Just for ranking, Northwestern is quite a bit higher than ND for engineering. If you are just worried about job, it may not make any difference between these two universities for engineering majors. You should be able to find a job easily with a good engineering major from any of these two universities.
